She's So Cold got me addicted, but after I was a fan I realized that I'd loved Brown Sugar and Tumbling Dice long before...

Thru and Thru got me unhooked. Thanks for freeing me Keith!

OUCH!

I come from the "Start Me Up" generation, but was already into their earlier stuff by then.

No song in particular, but I remember liking a TV commercial for Hot Rocks, in which was played the main choruses of several songs, and I remember how much the main melodies of these songs appealed to me.

I found Time Is On My Side kind of mystifying back in the day, still love the track, both the album and single versions, but it was the single version that I found strangely enchanting, a track that seemed to define their early sound and style.

Two for me, heard right around the same time. "Paint It, Black" and "IORR". I was mad I couldn't find a CD with both songs on it, and the local music store didn't have Aftermath, which meant I had to buy the more expensive Hot Rocks instead. So just getting those two songs tapped out my Velcro wallet.

Ouch! I feel your outrage. But fuzz box was new back then and Satisfaction was the first tune I ever heard it used on. No internet to instantly find out how that fuzz tone was made. I never bought the album it was on but I'll bet it had no liner notes telling who played what on each song
No OutRage, Fuzz Box or Not, I was 7 years old then and I knew that it was a guitar, it may be possible that you have a few years on me and your mind may have been altered, I'll give ya that, yes under the haze possibly. !!!!!

With me being about the same age you had more musical smarts than me. No kidding, I thought it was a sax for at least one year. Like the Dave Clark Five's "Glad all over"

"Tell Me" Bills bass string hiccups. And then saw them on the Mike Douglas Show, I didnt know white people were allowed to play Chuck Berry. That was that. The Beatles were for the girls but the Stones were for boys.

My goodness - I've been loving the wrong band for fifty years!

Good for you but we all know the Beatles demographic always skewed more female than the Stones. The Stones wrote misogynist tunes that the Beatles never did. The Stones had an edge and then in the UK you had the refrain--

"Would you allow your daughter to marry a Rolling Stone?"

Midnight Rambler.

My brother (RIP) trying to teach me how to play it on the piano and attempting to explain the lyrics to me at age 10.. Fan for life.

Growing up in a large family in Edinburgh, I shared a bedroom with my two elder brothers. They would play early Stones - Motown records on their jointly purchased Dansette record player what seemed all night. I would be put to bed around 8.00 pm [Aged 7- 8] for school in the morning, but that was the best tution I ever got.So when I was about 12 I bought my first Stones album 'Out Of Our Heads' UK edition - So for me [my brothers to thank] what got me hooked was the opening salvo to the album 1] She Said Yeah 2] Mercy Mercy 3] Hitch Hike..
Please play this and tell me if you agree is that not one the best trio of album openers of all time ?

It was 1972 and I was 10. My 15 yr old brother just saw the Stones on Dick Cavett and was in awe( much to the distress of Mom). My brother borrowed THRU THE PAST DARKLY off my cousins. I heard Street Fighting Man and was overcome by the roughness, and rawness of it. The Partridge Family albums and the Osmond records were given to friends within a week. I was hooked. And boy did I love the Partridge Family!

Brown Sugar, Sympathy, Jumpin Jack Flash and Gimme Shelter in no particular order. Basically the Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers and Exile albums combined to snag me forever!

Around and Around. I was 4. My 7-year-old brother got 12x5 for Christmas in 1964. I heard it on our crappy little record player in the basement. Would have been cool to see it played in Newark 12/13/12, but 'twas not to be.

The album tracks on Exile, hearing things that weren't singles or "hits," ie Soul Survivor, Ventilator Blues, and Rocks Off. And the photo on the inside of Mick and Keith singing together with the bottle. And that brown and green and purple tint, of the two sleeves, it felt like I had never seen such sick weird colors like that on an album cover before.
