Warning, don't read this if you're fashion-challenged or a bit out of shape.

What a dumb, stupid, irrelevant piece of crap.

As one commenter correctly said, as far as the Zumanity comment went- get your facts straight, Zumanity isn't even open, much less can anyone find Keno on the strip right now.

Hey kids, here's a review of the Stones where we attacked the attendees as old, fat and poorly dressed. What an idiot.

Jagger has always had an odd interest in vapidity and shallowness that is part of the Stones. (He married Jerry Hall, after all.) That's worth a separate thread. "what's that they told you about a book and a cover. is it too much to remember?"

I believe Zumanity is open (see below). No idea about keno, though.

I was there and the comments are spot-on. That's just they way it is. It was truly startling to see the old, old, aged appearance of so many fans. But that's just life.

My friends comment was "Th'ey can't sell out in 5 years, cause all the fans will be dead"

By John Corrigan

May 12, 2013, 12:52 p.m.

LAS VEGAS -- Even in their dotage, the Rolling Stones look great and sound even better.

Their fans? Time has not been on their side.

At the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, the crowd was decidedly less hipper than the throngs coming out of Cirque du Soleil’s "Zumanity" across the Strip.

It was as if everyone playing Keno in the casinos suddenly decided, “Let’s go see the Stones!”

The men were resplendent in Triple X-size aloha shirts and T-shirts over dress slacks.

The women -- well, ladies, you all looked fantastic. But if you’re in the 60-plus club, consider going with the Mom jeans and sensible shoes instead of hot pants and platform pumps, no matter how long you’ve been tanning and starving yourself.

In short, this was not a great show for pre-concert people-watching. Yet when the Stones finally took the stage, blasting their 1965 hit “Get Off of My Cloud,” a transformation began to take place.

The capacity crowd leapt to its feet, not to sit again for the next two hours. Years peeled away with each awkward hip shake, each tuneless sing-along.

This Stones tour isn’t about musical adventures and stretching boundaries. It’s about getting in a time machine and going back to a place you haven’t been in awhile.

It might be the first time you heard “(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction” during a summer vacation long, long ago. Or the time “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” came on the car radio at just the right time, with just the right friends along for the ride.

And by the end of the night, who cared about style? It was all about a shared experience.

Rock had worked its magic yet again, if only for a couple of hours on a hot Las Vegas night.

Allow me to translate that....

It is the opinion of the writer that; Stones fans are a bunch of ugly, old, fat fuks who dress in ugly, ill-fitting, old clothes but they still are really young at heart and can rock out and have a great time dancing around, as long as the music is good.

===========================================

Sounds like this jaded LA'ian, really really wanted to write a nasty article about The Stones and their fans, but the concert was so damned good, and the fans had so much fun, that in the end he couldnt in conscience stick with his original bashing story plan (except for the beginning)(which he could/should have cut too... and just said WOW!! THE STONES ROCKED AND THE FANS HAD A BLAST! But of course if he did that he couldnt/wouldnt be the "too-cool, jaded, "better-than-all-of-you" journalist" which he imagines he is.

What a poor post. Nothing there of any substance. Isn't Corrigan a business writer?

I think this calls for retaliation. Once one critic's severed head is impaled on a spike, the others will quickly fall in line.

The RS should not be biting the pudgy hands of those who have been feeding them the last 50 years. If you are pushing 70, chances are your audience will be 60+.

I agree, the writer jokes around a bit about older fans, but ends on an nice note.

I remember joking with my friend before the Stones took the stage in DC during their last tour, that if the band kept going, they'd have to set up a table to sell ear megaphones and for their hard of hearing fans.

The article made me chuckle. It's a good observation but true of the crowd at any nostalgia act. Clearly Mick feels that way too, remember Shine A Light and the models hired to fill the front rows? I think it was the same at the Echoplex too.

Only the old "hardcore fans" bother to pay for tickets, as they are so ridiculously priced, and as RS are on a greatest hits tour, with no new material. Younger people, who's not THAT into Rolling Stones doesn't bother to attend the 2013 concerts; at least not to such an extent as they did on tours prior to 1999.

And more top-hair, as well as less facial hair. This is the most obvious difference between old and young audience

Overweight people don't have many wrinkles. So most of the wrinkles you'll find at RS concerts are to be found on the guys on stage
