I ain't dead yet, so no the thrill is not gone. Just listening to last night's performance of Midnight Rambler reminds me of why I love the Stones and am THRILLED that I will be seeing them again soon.

It's Mother's Day and I'm going to spend it listening to the Stones LOUD.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there...you know who you are. winking smiley

Sonomastone. . .. I think I know what you mean. . .. All of the uusal gripes apply this time around with astronomical ticket prices being the biggest issue. . .. Mick Taylor's inclusion rasied expectations only to be deflated. . .. It is good that something's happening but with all of the 'issues' it is kind of a 'shrug the shoulders' affair.

I agree with most every post here. Apparently No Security and Licks were the final adventurous tours. The truth is that this time around we are getting stadium setlists in the arenas. I am 29, you guys ate not getting old. We are all simply tired of them playing the same songs every TOUR.

Age takes away the thrill, but alcohol can help bring it back! Try a glass or two of wine with your Stones! That should do the trick.

My thrill is absolutely gone. The feeling I had at the O2 has become stronger and stronger -the Rolling Stones live in 2012 and 2013 leaves me absolutely stone cold...they just don't do anyting for me anymore. It's a combination of the very, very mediocre playing and the fact that I just do not need to hear any other version of Brown Sugar or whatever anymore in my live. To me, the spark is gone, the energy is gone. I find them sound bad as well -the guitars sound spikey, trebly and just very unpleasant, and both Wood and Richards play just terribly uninspiring.

And even when they do a rarity like Emotional Resque I listen to the first one minute and hear that it's just worthless. I was very enthusiastic to hear that Taylor would play with them again, but in reality his playing has detoriated drastically, and he has lost about everything that has made him a legend.

Overdo it show after show (best show ever, best version blah blah since...) is quite laughable. Not a surprise on a fan board Off course... I love the Stones but I just try to stay a little objective and realistic.

Criticize the band: nothing really serious... Just music no ?

This do not hamper what they are and what they were ... But sorry, you will never make me say or think that the Stones are better on stage today than in 1969, 1972 or 1995 ...

Longevity is one thing. Not the arguement.

Saw the band in 1995, that remains my best souvenir. Paris 98, Germany 2003, Paris 2007 (the worst), all those concerts have really disappointed me ((to varying degrees)... Lack of guitar, lack of riff. The point I love with the Stones, making them an unique and wonderful band. And I'm sorry, really. Too many floating and soft versions...

Lausanne 2007 was "a clearing" in some way. This will be my last Stones concert. But don't make me look down on the pleasure, joy and enthusiasm of the fans...

Excommunication ? smiling smiley

If I could justify the $$ to be close to the stage I might have went for that reason. Seeing them close up would be the excitement more than hearing them.

I just don't need to hear the same songs played again, I check out the videos and can barely make it to the 1/2 way point of a song. Don't get me wrong I am a huge Stones fan.

I get way more exciting seeing a good band at a bar in my city or a city near by like Kingston or Ottawa. What is happening on a regional level musically is where my love of rock gets fulfilled and I couldn't be happier. Supporting a hard working band and even chatting them up at break or after, best thing ever.

I thought the thrill was gone totally for myself too. A friend really wanted to go so I said I would, but only if I could get the $85 tickets. I did, and the promoter/whoever screwed a lot of us by putting us in the rafters with Limited View. I was in a bad mood but when the UCLA Marching Band came out and then the Stones were on stage, all the gloom lifted and I was happy. (Stones pun, yes I'm aware). It got better with Mick T on Rambler and the encore with the choir was really nice. And Keith was fantastic on JJF.

There were some dull points. Sympathy just seems shoved in there whether we want to hear it any more or not. But overall it was a good concert and I'm glad I went.

The Stones are a human interest story as much as a musical act, at this point. People want to see their stories turn out well. I'm glad Mick Taylor has a part-time job with them and is getting a bit of redemption, and seems to be losing some weight and looking a little healthier, as well. I'm glad Keith is still out there in spite of all his past problems. I'm also glad that Ron and Charlie are still out there in spite of their past health problems. Mick never seemed to have any problems anyone was aware of, but he's still running around like a chicken with its head cut off, and he's not too young anymore, so that's a good sign.

They're a human interest story that's taking a victory lap, and if they can make anything resembling decent music, especially for people who never saw them before and wanted to, that's a good thing. They're a legend, and like most legends, maybe the legend is better than the reality. The major negative is the ticket prices for this tour, along with the fact they were manipulating prices and taking advantage of the hard-core fans who bought early and were stuck paying the highest prices of all. That's not a good way to treat the core of the fan base.

Used to be each show made me want to see more. Now with 2 shows I have had enough and want to find some way to get my money back on the $85 tickets I have for the other 2 shows.

Dan you should be able to return them at no cost. I am sorry to hear about your feeling. I have 85s to two Chicago shows and I am so disappointed with the setlist that I am worried about whether we will get decent seats for either gig or whether the setlist will change more than two songs.

Maybe the last tour, Mick Taylor on, new guest artists, a great stage, only arenas and two new songs: Sounds good, but I can't mobilize the same enthusiasm as I used to do. Maybe it's just me? Or has the band passed their zenit long time ago? I don't know. What is your feeling? Do you still get the same thrill when The Stones are on tour as you used to do? The debate is open!

I'm just getting to watch the YouTube clips of the shows so far but what I've watched from the are simply stunning! As for mobilizing the same level of enthusiasm that happens for some. It's invigorated me even more.

Best thing about what I've seen is it's a stripped down production with no blow up dolls, massive stages etc, just shut the hell up and let the music do the talking. At this point, I'd say they have a full head of steam. Fantastic!

I will see what I can do. There are people I want to meet in Anaheim anyway next Saturday but I will see if there is anyway I can just run 2 people in on the pair.

The band is playing fine... but I am very disappointed in the under-utilization of Mick Taylor. Not to mention I just don't enjoy arena shows period. Pretty much all the bar gigs in the past few weeks were far more enjoyable.

Does it thrill me as much as it did years ago? Well, no, but I can't think of anything that would prefer to do on a given evening than see the Stones. Still the greatest show on Earth. If you have a chance to go for $85, don't miss me.

I posted this in another thread concerning the Vegas show in YouTube clips but it fits in here, too:

Is it just me or do these clips bore you to death also? I hardly make it through more than 3 mins. then I have to turn it off. It's the same old, same old over and over and over and over again. It's as predictable as a KISS show these days. It's all clean, sterile, planned, organized, etc. BORING. I miss the rock and roll, the sweat and dirt and craziness.

The debate is open!

The thrill is not gone.
The sky is not too blue.
The water is not too clear.
The woman is not too beautiful.
It is all great, and I like it like that.
Its only rock and roll... why so much debate?
