i was watching jointrip hamptons 1981 yesterday, it was the first time i saw it and it was amazing. I wish i could have seen them when they were like that... anyway i was astonished by mick during let it rock. For those who don't know he actually goes into the stands in the arena and walks halfway around the stadium through the isles with the people. all he has is two body guards flanking him, he's slapping hands having a great time. It was the most incredible thing i've ever seen a rockstar do. Anyway at the end of the set, during satisfaction, a single fan runs onstage towards keith, he probobly just wants to hug him, instead he gets keiths guitar to hs face. Classic. but still shows that isnt as cool with the fans as mick is. I know it may be unfair to classify a personality over one show, but thats what i got from that.
It was a year after Lennon´s murder. Don´t forget that.
I read in a magazine at that time that there was talk about the band playing behind a windscreen of glass, for security reasons. Bullshit, but I read it somewhere. The Windscreen Tour...
Don't think Keith can be blamed for that, if you see someone running at you while you are on stage your first instinct is to defend yourself. This was not the 60's anymore with girls rushing to the stage. About the topic let me think a little bit.
keith said in the past that in the old days kids would come up and steal and even hit you..many not because they want to hurt you, but they get excited and over the top,(drugs) and that they could blind side you and then you get hurt.. so he said they are on my turf,,and thats not where they belong!
That was just Keith's self defence...Lennon's murder made every rockstar feel threatened even by fans! During the Licks shows, anyway, Keith has been friendlier with fans than Mick!
"got to be worked on don't have no bark nor bite..."
But look the way Mick faces the crowd since 89. He tries to avoid phisical contact. And Keith is much more receptive to that contact like shaking hands.
I got to shake Mick's hand during the Licks tour, when they walked by Mick stopped to greet people and he was the only one in the band to do so. Everyone else just waved as they walked by with body guards.
KSIE, I think he means Let Me Go to your reference about Jagger going into the crowd because you said it was during Let It Rock whixh they didn't play that tour.
Satisfaction was when Keith used his guitar as a baseball bat.
I was watching a boot DVD called "Rocks Off" which claims to be Kansas City from the same tour but upon close watch would seem to be the same as hampton. Does anybody know anything about this release?
