Favourite Nicky Hopkins moment

It's amazing how many of my favourite songs Nicky Hopkins has played on - thats aside from his work with the Stones as well. His versitility is tremendous when looking down the list of artists he has contributed - he's even played for the Bay City Rollers.
Even when talking about his Stones work alone his breadth of playing is tremendous including hints of vaudeville, psychedelia, country, rock and a whole lot more.
I must say my favourite moment has to be his playing on She's A Rainbow which really does raise this song to another level.
It's a shame he didn't live a little longer.

Nicky through Exile is a magical experience....

On a sad note, I remember reading that Nicky didn't remember one thing with the Stones.....

I just listened to this before reading your message, Happy Jack. It is great. For me Nicky is the best player on the rock piano. On beggars banquet he proves this too in my opinion.

I agree No Expectations is exquisite, classic. I also like his composition on the Jeff Beck Group's "Beck-Ola", "Girl From Mill Valley" & his work with the Airplane on the "Volunteers" album & the live shows he did w/ them.

my fave hopkins moment was shaking his hand at the palomino in no. hollywood when he played there with mt...he looked like he had stepped out of a dickens novel with these strange little glasses and his clothes....i loved the work he did on face to face and something else with the kinks....

Hey...

It´s quiz time, right?

With some insights though not yet Ph.D in 60´s rock, I´d shoot a guess
(Still, I know sh*t) that Nicky rarely or never played with Pink Floyd?
There may also be fat chance he at any time got near one of Deep Purpleá
keyboards (Jon Lord´s Hammond, that is).
Conclusionally, ...The growin´ progressive rock scene - more or less boring to death in a few years, but anyway... That´s my saying.

You know, I'd like to say 'all of them', but that's too glib.

I remember that 'tingle' across the keys he did at the end of JJF 1972. It was a four note ascending sequence. Always knew SFM was next!!!!

Those wonderful pearls falling from the sky during the coda of Tumbling Dice US '72 and OZ '73 tour, plus the interaction with Mick Taylor: The Two Graces tossing arpeggios to eachother.
