Imagine Being Brian Jones' Parents

Impregnates girlfirend in high school as a teenager, has to leave school, takes off to create his own band (The Rolling Stones,) becomes a rich and famous international rock star, gets hooked on drugs and alcohol, battles personal demons and finally dies a controversial death at age 27, still a subject of debate decades on. Don't know about anyone else but if he was my son, my head would be spinning.

And what about Keiths father? Kicked out/leaves family, son becomes famous, son makes headlines, son arrested, son looses front tooth, dad meets son, dad dies, son mixes ashes with cocaine, son snorts ashes.

Any parent of any of the boys must have had their moments .I suppose it all depends on how the parents were prepared for what would come next .

Can you imagine being Mrs. Jagger / Richards when your sons penned

" I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag,
I was schooled with a strap right across my back " ?

Just to cite one example .

Being Mick´s father, I´d think:

"Am I really his father? Very strange - I am bald, but my son is NOT..."

HAH! Probably don't want to go there again, but it really isn't so bad, somehow you forget it all once you have your beautiful babe...otherwise, none of us would have siblings.

As to Brian Jone's parents, there isn't a parent alive who hasn't been "disappointed" at some point in their child to some degree. But you can't live their life for them. I've always admired people like the Stones who buck the system, go against what their parents/society expects of them and do what they want. It takes a lot of guts. Now the pregnant girls and the drugs are another thing...

Imagine being any of their parents. That generation wasn't ready for what we brought them, so sudden.

Do we know this to be true? I thought he was indebt when he died. I wonder if any money was made on Cotchford Farm when it was sold to the current owner in 1970?

But Brian's estate must have received something for the 63-69 catalog that he played on from sales in the last 44 years, I imagine!

Nevermind that, imagine Brian Jones' children, who, in addition to growing up without a father, also never saw a dime from the estate.

Yeah right. Wonder where the money trail would lead to?

Stanley Booth interviewed Brian's parents. I read a reprint of the interview in a Stones book by David Dalton titled The Rolling Stones: the First 20 Years."
