"Some Girls" live

Was the song "Some Girls" ever played live besides on the NO SECURITY tour? If so, where?

Bill Wyman says in his "Rolling Stones Book" that they have played it a few times on the 1978 US tour.
Never heard a boot from any of those mentioned shows.

Bill's memory seems to be a bit weak...

Especially for someone who claims that he has never done any drugs

In regards to the 78 tour, how many shows did the Stones perform and how many of those are actually on bootlegs? I would tend to think that if Bill mentioned they played it, they probably did, since he kept journals, diaries, etc.

yeah - Bill also said they played Johnny B. Goode in '72 and a few other mis-recollections. They did NOT play Some Girls on the live stage until '99.

Some Girls was played quite a few times on No Security tour. Rumour has it that it was Mick's way of slagging on Jerry Hall.

Also played on Bridges Tour

Stuttgart, Germany, May 29 1999
Imst, Austria, May 31 1999
London, UK, June 8 1999

In his latest book there is a bunch of false info. provided by Bill. He also said Can't You Hear Me Knocking was in the set list during one of the tours in the early 70's.

Actually, Hound Dog, Bill is not the only one that remembers CYHMK in the set list. Last tour it was either Mick or Keith that admitted that it was, but it was dropped because they always fell apart. Kind of ironic, considering all the slagging of the current Stones, and especailly Ronnie, that they could not play one of MT's signature tunes with him on board when most peole feel the band was at its it finest. And before any one jumps down my throat, please realize, I DID NOT BLAME MT for this failure, I am merely mentioning the irony!

CYHMK was indeed played at a couple of early shows on the '71 tour - according to recollections by both Keith and Bobby keys as well as Bill. Three separate recollections by people who were actually onstage at those shows is a pretty good pointer. Mick's memory is notoriously hopeless when it comes to stuff like this.

Bill's "recollection" that Some Girls was played in '78 is 100% wrong. I've every show from that tour and both that song and Before they make me run were not played on any of them. Some Girls was ONLY played live in 1999. BTMMR was not played by the Stones until 1989.

I seriously have my doubts about Johnny b Goode being played in '72. Bye Bye Johnny is also listed by Bill in his book and that was indeed played regularly but I've never seen a live show from '72 that had that in the setlist nor have I ever read a review of a show that contained it. I'm 99% certain it wasnt played at all on that tour.

The list of shows (and setlists) can be found here: [frayed.org]

Its funny, Mick can't seem to remember much when it comes to his own music, wonder if that is because of his past drup use or what. Mick also said during the Licks tour that Torn & Frayed and Lovin Cup were never played live, and they both were. I think he also says that about CYHMK at the Toronto club gig. And we all know he never seems to remember what songs came from which albums. Wonder if he still puffs the herb... There is an article in High Times from 1980 in which he speaks very fondly of the green stuff.

LOL how many times has he asked Charlie what album Rocks Off is from?

"This is one we do from Exile On Main Street, right? Called Rocks Off!".

Every night on VL and continuing on Licks. I just wants not to appear to aware and foregetful about the past yet he wants to remind people of the album Exile. A true dilemma.

Mick has many times been quoted as not wanting to dwell on the past, but with a 40-year history with the same band, it cannot be ignored. Yeah, it's certainly a dilemma, but Mick the spin-meister would probably say, "Umm, we obviously can't ignore what we've done before, but we still figure out new ways of doing it." I can see him saying it, with the trademark wide smile.

On June 25, 1975 a Wednesday night, at Madison Square Garden, the Stones opened with the medley...Honky Tonk Woman/If You Can't Rock Me/Get Off My Cloud.

BTW...Bianca and Jade were in the audience that night.

When the Lotus Stage opened Mick was wearing a feathered crown with a 3/4 length belted black leather coat. He sported an all black outfit, the shirt had a red diamond on it.

Seems to me at the Palais Royale Mick introduced
Torn and Frayed as one they hadn't played before
but I have it on Stones Live Vancouver 72.
