Love it/Hate it...

The Stones KNOW who butters their bread...& it is us Americans. We pay HUGE prices & fill up the gigs. The rest of the world would NEVER pay what we do, esp. for as many gigs as we get. They will start here, make the money, & then do the "welfare tour" where the cheaper ticket countries can see em too. You know how it works..the rich pay the big bucks the poor get the welfare discount. I like the system (big democrat), etc. - but let's get over where they will start. Always start with the hand that feeds you. Without US ticket prices there would have been half as many tours (not really, but certainly fewer).

Ah man! I was hoping to have enough money by Summer 2006 to head to Europe for a week to see the Stones. And now ... 2005? Ah man!

North America is the cash cow
and where a big buzz would start
the machine rolling. Toronto Canada
would most likely seem to be the kick off
for rehearsals and another possible initial
small club gig, to follow tradition, and handle
the tax and visa requirements. We'll be waiting............;-)

Deidre - Not that Germany is big market for British rock, it is a big market for Finnish rock as well! The snobbish, elitish Brittons (sic) never understand the greatness of such big and important names as Leningrad Cowboys, Eläkeläiset or M.A. Numminen, but Germans - they do! And the same goes for film industry as well.

And of their export - don't forget ever great and relevant Boney M or Scorpions!
And the girl with 99 balloons, Nena was her name?

Gazza - you are right. My memory didn't serve me very well.

"You know how it works..the rich pay the big bucks the poor get the welfare discount." sdstonesguy
Are you refering to Europe as poor? I payed 120 goddamn euros for a Stones-concert!! That's about $140 on this moment!! Not exactly a welfare discount...

Edward

Rorty,

I actually like BoneyM! (And 99 Red Balloons).

"Ra! Ra! Rasputin"! (Fantastic intro. really).

But can you guess which language they were using?

Speaking of languages....I've recently learnt that Finnish (like Hungarian?)is not an Indo-European language. How did that happen? Are Finns from Another Planet?

"Another Girl, Another Planet" was a good song from New-Wave band the Only Ones. (British).
Also memorable words in a Kiki Dee song.

Edit...... (to Rorty)

Am about top watch "Clockwise" on TV. Starring John Cleese. (You referred to Fawlty Towers earlier in this Football post).
In a similar F Towers vein - send up of "stiff upper lip" English middle-class attitude.
It's a farce. Like Fish Called Wanda.
Recommended if you can find it on Video/DVD.

Makes no difference at all if the World Cup is in Europe same time as the Stones.
Spain 1982, Italy 1990 and France 1998. Tour will start in USA as usual.

Well i hope, The new tour starts in Europe, yes because of the world cup in Germany 2006. 9 JUNE-9 July.. The biggest 12 Stadiums in germany are closed, even before the start---. Oberhausen?--Cannstatter Wasn?--Nürnberg Zeppelinfeld?
Hamburg -Bahrenfeld? I hope not. There are 4,1 million Tickets for the world cup, between 35 and 800 Euros. ca. 800.000 tickets for the german fans---the rest all over the world. Think about the economic situation. The stones would play in front of half-full--stadiums.---even in the netherlands or belgium!!!
come on---Start 2005 in Europe!!

What the ... are you all talking about? Let's hope this tour will ever start. It's not important where.

Who are the greatest Fans? Who has more money?....I want to see them. That's it.
