By thinner I mean that his voice sounds a bit weaker and less broad, so to speak. Rather less rich than less powerful I suppose, of that's to any comfort. Say, Tom Jones has a richer voice than Neil Young; the latter's voice is thin while the former's voice is richer/broader.
In the early sixties Mick's voice was rather thin, but as we got to the end of that decade, it's become fuller and richer. It continued to grow and peaked, in this way, around the recordings for B&B (listen to Hand Of Fate for reference, and compare to say, Little Red Rooster) It remained in this way more or less into the early/mid 90's. In the last decade it seems to have lost some of its richness. This is what I meant about his voice having become thinner.
His range by the way, is as good as ever, for reference on range, listen to Angie from Four Flicks and compare to a 1990-version of the same song.
I hope this was clearifying.
