I was just thinking, and I know it's not going to happen, but since last night's Hurricane Sandy Relief concert was in New York and the Stones and McCartney performed at the concert, and the Stones are doing their PPV Saturday here, wouldn't it be great if McCartney showed up to do "I Wanna Be Your Man" with the Stones since they are doing the song on this tour. Hell, I would rather Paul Mac than Lady Gaga.

Playing bass, with Ringo on vocals would have been cool, imo.

What about doing a Berry cover that the Stones and Beatles both have done?

Roll Over Beethoven, for instance...

No, singing with Mick and bass as well. I should have been more specific.

Just asking, since it's Ringo who is doing it originally winking smiley But McCartney has probably sung it many times.

True, but knowing that Paul is in town already I immediately thought of him.

I didn't know that. I thought he was just in town for the Sandy Concert. I'm a little behind in my McCartney info.

Yeah, and the next album would be "Duets"??
All those 'surprise' guests make it something totally different... Is this a rock and roll band or what?
The PPV does not look like a show I would like to see: the gaga kid, Bruce, the Black Keys. Just Taylor and Wyman would do. Maybe Lisa in the spotlights again on GS; that would really be enough.
It already looks far too much like a company. For decades. We more or less accepted that. And more or less did not accepted that.
But at least they never needed that much guests on a show.
And now it seems that even the fans got this celebration fever... or whatever it is that first caused ridiculous prices and now these absurd wishes.

And it started so promising in London (apart from the ticket prices)!
With very good developments like the minimalism which I thought is a good choice: the stage, the light, the guitar sound back in front, some of the videos, some songs on the setlist, most of the arrangements. All back to basics. The power of that is a highlight in itself.
So why ask for macca??
When Bruce, the idiot, the Keys and Taylor (& BW probably) are already there??

I guess as long as there are adults expressing wishes like a four year old kid sitting on Santa's lap the ticket prices will only go up.
That's why these vegas things keep on going: people just keep shouting how great they are with everything they do...but it's not. And they don't need to do everything. Just play.

IMO at this moment guests don't fit the choice for minimalism.
Just Taylor & Wyman.
And Lisa doing GS.
Maybe Taylor & Wyman together on two well chosen songs...that would be all the minimalistic highlight we really need.
That would fit.
That would make lots of fans want more.
Now we want less.

And in the past, McCartney has been quite good on SNL and on skits too....
I am still in hopes, optimistic for a good modern SNL... but it has been a while.

I feel like I'm in front of a firing squad here. I can't get over how people respond to something. First off I said to Gazza that I was not aware of the fact that McCartney was doing SNL this weekend - my mistake. Secondly, I said it would be better than having Lady Gaga, but apparently most of you don't think so. Okay, cool with me. Someone else said this shouldn't even be a thread. Why not considering we have threads on here that have nothing to do with the Stones.

I think Paul on bass and Ringo sharing vocals for "I Wanna Be Your Man" and Paul for "Not Fade Away" since they were both influenced by Buddy Holly (who wasn't?) Don't understand why Mick doesn't see this...here's hoping!!

The same night the Stones are doing their PPV show. Just a coincidence, I guess. Or is it Sir Paul trying to steal some thunder from his old rivals? This legacy war between the Beatles and the Stones has gotten downright nasty.

Saturday Night Live doesn't air until 11:30 eastern...the Stones will be fast asleep by then, unless they're planning to do a 3-hour plus show. Folks attending the Stones concert can get home in plenty of time to watch Paul on SNL, if they want, with no conflict whatsoever.
