Two London shows released on CD on December 17th!
Posted by: johnnythunders ()

News from CMR of two forthcoming relesae from Godfather Records ( www.collectorsmusicreviews.com/announcements/the-rolling-stones-2012-on-godfather ). Each show is on 2CDs with deluxe packaging, retailing around 27 Euros. This has got to be one of the quickest releases ever...I think they will sell out quite quickly.

THIS is exciting!

Any ideas on best place in the US to buy this CD package?
I assume RollingStones website?

I also want to thank all the terrific Stones fans who kept us all apprised of every moment of the two London shows. It made me feel that once again there was a true sense of community at IORR like there used to be!

I'm very happy for everyone who saw the Stones in London against many obstacles with those damned scalpers etc.

The interesting part is the fact that they use the hard of hearing feed to produce a matrix. I heard rumors about it but was curious to see what would come out. Should be fun! (already scouring dime)

StonesRule, you're going to have to find a retailer who stocks Godfather releases (it's not going to be sold on rollingstones.com any time soon...)

This is clearly a bootleg. I'm not going to pay for something that I can most likely download from somewhere. BUT, I will put them on a cd, make a phony record label, come here and announce that the show has been released on CD and ask for money smiling smiley

What? The Stones didn't sign with Godfather Records?
Unthinkable

Usually IEM's suck so they had to mix them with aud tapes...

What's this matrix business? They mix an IEM (hard of hearing feed in mono ?) and an audience recording (Bol's I suppose ?) and that's supposed to sound good ?

It's not supposed to.

It does.

They don't always sound good, but sometimes a good matrix can be great. Especially if you are the one running the soundboard!

But somebody or other have to buy (and upload) this bootleg before you can likely download it from somewhere. smileys with beer

Yes! I hope/think the GF guys got their own (pretty good) recording of the show(s).
Wait and see!

And acc. to IORR member Kees there's another set of exc. aud tapes "around". Who'll buy them? The Dutch bootleggers from Rattlesnake? Or the Japanese crew of DAC?

Le suspens est insoutenable! >grinning smiley<

The Godfather boolegs are goog quallity, but nowhere near the quallity of an official recording. I seriously doubt it is "directly from the mixing desk" - they would be sued for that, no doubt. Well, now when I think about it...anything is possible...but to pay for a bootlegs? To pay 27 Euro for a bootleg?

Disappointing after I read the title. I doubt they'd bring out an official release, certainly on the first night Keith hit a major bum note on Gimme Shelter.

That title reminds of the old Johnny Carson Carnac gag....

Answer-
Champagne, reefer and a red headed woman.....

Question-
What makes for a really good time?

They probably had an "associate" standing around the O2 with a freq scanner. As soon as he found the right one he recorded. But that's a far cry from plugging into the soundboard... smoking smiley

When was the last time we got sth straight from the band? The VL sessions and more recently the Paris'98 SB which appearenty was leaked by Mick himself cos he liked the show so much... Other than this, nada! Lips are closed!

There will be an official DVD. Malachy, the director of the film that precedes the band on stage, told me that the plan was that an extended version of the fan-film would be an extra on the official live DVD. Whether the live footage will be London or New York or a blend of the two remains to be seen. The lazy way would be just to release the PPV, but those London shows were pretty damn fine...

I just listened to the samples of the recordings.
I was sent back to early mono times in life.
All you could hear good and clear was a guitar everything else was just a complete mud of noise.

Nothing good.
Hopefully the Stones themselves put an end to this edition by releasing their own edition of 2 great performances!

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!

Don't worry guys... We'll all have a great bootleg of Saturday's gig. Let's just hope they play a blues OTHER than Going Down.
