They were Medicis, "old-time patrons of the arts," says Walton Ford, who Scott recruited to design the cover of the Stones' Grrr! greatest hits album. "You're dealing with two people who have created things everybody thinks are truly great. So to have them be like, 'how about it?' It's an incredible honour."

No offense to the artist but I have always thought the Gorilla/Grrr theme for the 50th anniversary of THE Rolling Stones meant utterly nothing at all.
I agree. I was looking forward to a commemorative poster, but in the event I couldn't bring myself to buy the litho, not so much because of the cost but because it didn't seem to evoke the band or the occasion in any way. (Plus it was hideous and I wouldn't want it on my wall, but that's not the point!)

One of the best art work in years, at least for me. A pity it was used only for a greatest hits release. Love the gorilla and, of course, I have the litho

I must say I was in a bit of a shock when I first saw it, but then that's one of the points of art isn't it, being disruptive. With the fabulous and unexpected "Stones' run" that followed the monkey getting unveiled it did become pretty close to my heart. Having it framed and walking past it several times a day will be a way of going back there, priceless!
