Entertainment weekly has an interesting list of the 100 greatest entertainers of all time (from 1997). It's a mixed bag of musicians, actors, directors etc.. Seems to be slanted towards individual entertainers since the top 50 are all individuals except for two rock groups- Beatles (#1) and Rolling Stones (#15) and three tv shows (SNL, The Simpsons and Star Trek).

Like any other list it has some inexplicable choices. Jane Fonda is ranked higher than the great one Jackie Gleason. Kurt Cobain and Chrissie Hynde are also on the list but no Mick Jagger, Macca or John Lennon.

"Lyin' awake in a cold, cold sweat. Am I overdrawn, am I going in debt?
It gets worse, the older that you get. No escape from the state of confusion I'm in.

Funny how a seven year-old thread that lasted three days and a page-and-a-half in 2005, has suddenly taken off to five pages now !

the reason i said that is not that i don't respect other peoples opinions,i most certainly do.but it becomes obvious at some point, when some people are here just to bash the worlds greatest rock and roll band.

Thanks Backstreetboy. IORR was established for actual fans of The Rolling Stones.

Fun thread. I am having trouble answering this! Elvis was a real trail-blazer so it's tough to say he's been beat, but he really didn't hold up too long. Jagger has been pretty darn captivating for 50 years!
