Congratulations Mr. President!

46 million below the poverty line - up 10 million from where he started.

Yes well done.

+ 2, especially given the situation Obama inherited and an opposition rendered dysfunctional by its lunatic fringe, aka Tea Party.

Stop lumping Americans into a group like that. That is the stuff that denigrates a good civil conversation that BV is allowing. Not all Americans resort to hyperbole. Find me the perfect country in the world, and perhaps you might be living there?

I guess it's all relative in how you look at health care reform. Should we have nationalized medicine? Yes, but the lines and wait and what not will be deplorable. Ask Canadians what they think of it, and the waiting they have to endure. Canadians, I believe, pay about 40% of their income in taxes for free healthcare and college education. I already pay 40% plus whatever else this healthcare reform costs me. Plus, when corporations start dropping healthcare coverage because it'll be cheaper for them if employees just go on the gov't system, then we'll see how well this is working.

Iraq war took FAR longer than he'd said it would - were supposed to be out within his first year in office if I recall. Afghanistan should have never entered. Yeah - he got Bin Laden. One for him.

Am not sure economy is back from brink of any collapse - China owns so much of the US now it's not funny. All they have to do is call in their debts, and we are screwed. We just keep printing more and more money. Like that's the answer - all that's doing is devaluing the dollar further. Saved the US Auto industry? Really? You mean the government bought it. What's it called again when the gov't owns/controls the banking and automotive industries??

Guess I must have missed all those tax cuts for the middle class - never saw any of them come my way.

Wall Street reform.........that has led to less lending from banks and more new fee creations to side step the new 'reform' brought forth. Plus, last I checked, 99% of the CEO's are back to making their huge salaries and corporations are still living and spending extravagantly, so where's the reform there? I know, because I work for one!!

Praytell, where exactly as he improved relations overseas? And do you really believe that we're less dependent on foreign oil because we're now producing cars getting better gas mileage? Who's buying these cars with so many out of work? Do you think hydrofracking is the answer? Mine gas and destroy our waters for the sake of removing our dependence on oil?? Pu-lease!!

What about job creation?? Where is that? Still thousands and thousands of jobs going overseas due to lucrative tax deals. And the heavy tarrifs the country charges corporations for setting up shop here, but doesn't charge foreign companies.

Education? Social Security? What of all his little side deals that had to wait until after he won re-election? Where does it end? I don't trust him ONE bit, and I'm a Democrat. Mind you, one who's still smarting that it's not Hillary in the White House.

I love this country to death, but neither of these 'candidates' deserved to be the last two standing. Between all this for Barry O. and the jobs eliminated and lack of intuity that Romney presented, it is a sad, sad, sad state of affairs.

We can agree to disagree, gimmelittledrink. You have your beliefs, and I have mine - and that there is what makes America so great. We are each entitled to them and can freely debate the merits of each other's argument without getting nasty with one another or thrown in prison for our beliefs.........although there is now the law that one can be arrested and thrown in jail for speaking out against the gov't. No trial's needed and the time incarcerated is indefinitely. It's true. Look it up.

I strongly fear for what's left of this once great nation. So much is gone from what once made this nation great. And to the person who called God fictional, I feel bad for you, my friend, I really do. There is a God - a living breathing one, and I pray to him each and every day to look over my family, my pastors, our country and our leaders...

Apparently every foreign country polled backed Obama, except Israel and, possibly, Pakistan (I've heard mixed reports there). If anyone is interested in what the rest of the world thinks.

I'm still amazed that election after election, Florida is still struggling with voting (hanging chads ) and long lines (aka voter suppression). I'm sure it will be the same story in four years.

So much hate and venom being spilled. Too many people in the USA watching Fox News and listening to AM hate radio. This began back in the 90's when Fox News(the TV channel that brings all the lies, distortions, and hate all of the time)started to suck people in. AM radio with nasty horrible people like Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter,Savage ad nauseum found a foothold.

Reasonable discourse became progressively more difficult with the drone of Fox News in the background. For example, last night following the reality that Ohio was going to be won by Obama, Karl Rove began crying that it was wrong! It was a mistake, there was still a good chance Romney would pull out a win! Other talking heads went right along with this nonsense. It's as though the Fox News network is operating in some sort of bizzaro parallel universe. Those who watch, view white as black, day as night. Good must be bad, and on and on.

The Tea party agenda and GOP congressional stonewalling was taken to the woodshed last night in the elections, repudiating the senseless party move to the right that gained momentum a few years ago. Both the Dems and especially the GOP need to move back towards the middle. Obama has not governed from the left in his first 4 years, unless you somehow believe that health care reform is some commie pinko plot. Congress needs to go to work, find some consensus, and start moving the country in a more positive direction. I believe Obama will be more open to negotiation and deal making than many on this forum think. In the meantime throw the hate in the backseat will ya? Seriously not healthy to think that way.

Picked up some Apple at $580 last week, someone on CNBC thinks the bottom may be in the upper $400's, but will probably see if it goes down in the 525 range (560 sure looks attractive though). Always liked CAT...

Any country that would have mormons as candidate for president or any job - cant never be taken seriously, I mean really..I dont understand why religious people could ever be taken seriously.

I've watched my Apple stock go from $525 where I bought it to over $700 and back down. If it dips into the $400's I will buy more. Caterpillar is a good strong company. If it dips below a certain point, I would consider buying more.

"Canadians, I believe, pay about 40% of their income in taxes for free healthcare and college education."

Where on earth did you get that figure from? First of all, the Federal taxation rate for Canada tops out at 29% (I'm looking at last years' tax return right now), and that's if you make over 130k/year. For most of us, it's between 22 and 25%. Health care is not free unless you are below the poverty line, you pay a nominal monthly fee or you have coverage through your work. And what on earth does college education have to do with income tax rates? It certainly ain't free here. Get your facts straight.

Oh, and congratulations America and Washington State in particular! Same-sex marriage and legalization marijuana in one fell swoop. A road trip down the I-5 to Seattle just got more appealing 'cos we won't have to go without.
