The "rive gauche" is teeming with fashionable clubs, frequented, every day and every night, by people of all ages, settled among in the historic center that merges with luxury. You may happen to meet in any restaurant in the area, sitting nonchalantly , at the table next to yours two rock icons like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones.

It happened a few nights ago at Il Cestello Restaurant, in the little square of the same name overlooking the riverfront.

The band was apparently having dinner there. According to rumors, the two stars had been in Florence for the past ten days or so with their entire entourage made up of sound engineers, producers, service personnel and security, busy working on some songs for a new musical project. The musicians were barricaded, locked away from prying eyes in Daniele Cavalli's Heavy Soul Darling recording and production studio (in Villa Cavalli). It seems that Paul Mc Cartney also made a brief appearance.

However, they are scheduled to leave today. Their musical tour will begin shortly. This is not the first time the Rolling Stones have passed through these parts. Even in 2017, on the occasion of a concert in Lucca, the band had decided to stay in the historic center of Florence.

Especially the frontman in Florence "is at home" and has been thinking about moving to Tuscany with his family for years, the perfect buen retiro setting for a few months a year, also to work on writing new songs. After all, it was precisely with Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts that Jagger recorded the hit "Living in a ghost Town" a few years ago.

The leader of the Rolling Stones is not the first entertainment personality to give in to the lure of the Florentine oltrarno. On the 2017 tour they played Lucca, close to Florence and closer to Pisa.

I was staying in Florence the couple days before the show, and met Charlie walking through the streets

Yes, I thought the same. This is the studio (lot of analog equipment). Mick is listed under the "Family" tab. Tried to find photos that match with the Mick's video but could not find. Yet the style (wooden ceiling) looks like it might be a room somewhere in there

Interesting! Wonder what is the purpose of these recordings - a whole new album or some sort of deluxe edition of HACKNEY DIAMONDS with bonus material? Or something else?

But be the purpose whatever, most of all it is wonderful that they keep on working in the studio. Mick and Keith seem to go along very well these days, being very commited to the Stones.

I ran around town all morning looking for them and then realized, Oh, THAT Florence.

Great news! They talked about a second relase and many songs, they had recorded. This would be realy great!

Mick has been in Florence for a week( many report from friends). Keith appears to have already left ( nothing report from friends)
There is no news of Matt Clifford, always with Mick in previous stays in Tuscany and Sicily.

Isn't getting ready for the tour five months before the first show a bit early?

Maybe they enjoyed working last December and January and wanted to see if they could keep it going. At least, that's what I hope is happening.

Jagger has said 3/4 of the next album has been done and that was months ago so I am sure they are evaluating those tracks and wrapping it up for release next Fall. It won’t come out before the tour
