LOL. Do you even know when to use "it's" and when to use "its"?
Too funny.

I don't wish him dead, but anyone who was a defender of Timothy McVeigh—as Vidal was—is pathetic.
I read that essay, and he wasn't in favor of what McVeigh did (he endorsed Gretta Van Susteran's observation of "two wrongs don't make a right" ), he simply portrayed him has someone who wasn't necessarily a "monster" and who was motivated by what he was motivated by. We're quick to assign the "monster" label without making efforts to actually understand why people do what they do. That being said, I'm glad the bastard got the death penalty.
Yes, similar to Mailer's take on Oswald. Not an apology, but a look into a 'monster's' humanity.
Vidal was one of the last great intellectuals.
At least, unlike Mailer, he didn't get a murderer out of jail so that he could kill again

Yeah, except Oswald didn't actually kill anyone.

It's such a loss because his completely unique perspective on the erosion of the constitution and mechinations of washington power structures is irreplaceable. There is no other Gore Vidal. At least Chomsky is still with us.

Vidal was a very bitter and angry man. He was born to money and felt very guilt about his wealth. He had a lot of failed love affairs with young men.

I know. It's such a Socialist Hell on Earth we're living in because of Comrade Obama. Things are sooooooooo different from the golden era of Bush and Cheney. Barack is such an evil genius that he totally took over the government and now it runs every second of our lives.
That kind of thinking was s##t then, and it's s##t now.

Honestly, is his race that much of a distraction for you?
If you could put forth an idea that didn't focus on his race, I think you would have far more credibility in any observation you might have.

It only appeared that way to racists.

"Oh.. look it's different... it's change"... except it wasn't.
I wasn't the one distracted.

There is no question that much of the opposition to Obama is race based. Some people just can't accept having a black man as President. Obama has proven to be to be even more moderate than was Bill Clinton. Obama continued most of the policies put in place by Bush and even his signature achievement -- the signing of the health care act -- was originally designed by conservatives. And yet they speak of him as if he is an extremist. Nothing could be farther from the truth. If he were white, the criticism of him would be much different. In fact, if he were white, Republicans would have a much harder time opposing him since his policies have been similar to theirs.
