Is this ever actually publicly screened as per the court settlement? If so, where and when?

Yes, it has been screened several times, I believe with Robert Frank (or some associates to him) present. I think it was screened with a Q&A with the director/producers/whatever after the screening, a few years ago, but don't remember where.

What a boring movie. It's as if they took all the b-roll footage of a good documentary and put it into a boring movie..

Last time I watched it I gave up half way through.
Stick with "Ladies and Gentlemen".

I saw it at a screening a year or so ago at the Brooklyn Museum.

It's actually a much better movie when the image is clear and sharp...
when you can actually make out whose face is on the screen, instead of the blurry ghostly images of the hundredth-generation VHS copy that you've seem.

It was screened at Tate Modern a few years back as part of a Frank Exhibition.
His photos much more interesting than the film

THat's a great point....most of us have had bad, 10th generation vhs copies since the 80s......I imagine the watching the film in true black and white without the lines going through it, hissy sound...enhances the film's overall aesthetic quality.
Some of the film is spliced together with Jagger's own home movies, in itself a reason for greatness.

I saw when it was screened at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC back in the early '80's.

I wouldn't call it a Academy Award material, more like a Saturday afternoon Matinee from the '60's.

It's been shown here in L.A. There doesn't seem to be much advance publicity when it is. I'd like to see a decent screening.

Robert Frank must be present if it's screened shown in a movie theater. I've seen it twice (once at U.C. Berkeley and another time at the Castro theater in San Francisco).

Robert Frank would be the first to you it's not a very good film.

You can buy bootlegged copies of the CSBlues, but it's really a bore.

Hell, if I can find my copy I'll give it to you!

Slow pace and boring parts of the CS Blues movie are part of the narrative ... the wild craziness of the shows contrasted with the routines and boredom of concert touring.

You say the movie footage is sharper & clearer? I would see it.

The version I saw was completely clear. Probably not as good as the picture at the screening you attended, but you could tell who everybody was no problem, and there were no "ghostly images" to be seen. And I still found it to not be a very good film. If it weren't for the fact that I was somewhat interested, given that I'm a Stones fan, I would have absolutely hated it.

So true. it's weird. promises so much but delivers so little. I think it actually captures the boredom that went with the times. people want to live like a Stone, but in truth they spent much of the 70s looking out of airport departure lounges.

I've watched One Plus One twice (ironically)...this sounds like a dream.

"One Plus One", "Performance" and "C*cksucker Blues" are documents about The Rolling Stones and Mick at their peak before they got lost in their so called "Vegas-Trip" ...

I seem to be in the minority here who actually love that movie. Sure ain't no thriller, but the surroundings, characters, debauchery, the historic events (Stones-wise), and the great music. I'd say all live parts in that movie are better than most of Ladies and Gents.

I saw a screening of it at the Met 2 years ago, much better than any cheap bootleg copy. Still not a very exciting movie but more like "fly on the wall" documentary.

If you are a stones fan it is worth seeing at a real screening even if you have seen the bootleg. The Uptight/Satisfaction jam alone is worth the price of admission.

maybe we are all assuming that Frank was trying to present a positive experience, and failed. I mean - Stones tour, 1972...the greatest. All fun and rock'n roll. I've always seen the film about ennui. Frank was cynical about the whole thing before we caught on. yes there is the excitement on stage, but that is two hours out of 24; yes, there are all the poppers and cocaine, but just as much come-down in between; yes, there is the plane sex, but...any takers? So in the end I find the film a success: the tired looks on the faces of Taylor e.g; Jagger saluting in front of a lonely TV Keith crashed out - I have always thought this is what Frank wanted to show.

Much of the "debauchery" was staged for the cameras.

Well of course, how else can you be sure you're doing it correctly?

I only saw it on YouTube recently. I was not terribly impressed but I found the Mick/Bianca interaction interesting. Since I was only old enough to become aware of them in the later 70's as they were breaking up it was kind of sweet to see that they seemed happy and in love at one point. The much vaunted "airplane orgy" was rather anticlimactic (pun intended).

and the tv tossing was one of the worst tv tossings i've ever seen...staged or otherwise. that didn't get rehearsed nearly enough, obviously...

I think the obvious problem with the TV tossing was that it was simply too heavy for Keith's spindaly arms. If Keith were to do it today, he'd have the advantage of it being an LED flatscreen. much thinner and lighter. He'd have been able to hurl it like a frisbee.

That, would have been something.
