No Wrecking Crew-- ( although Hal Blaine was shown on the video screen a couple times ), but they had a really tight 9 piece band behind them--the drummer was reallly good-- John Cowsill -- anyone remember him from the 60's group the Cowsills ?

Just returned home after seeing the Beach Boys tonight-- all I can say is that they were spectacular! They played for over 3 hours with just a short intermission halfway through-- all the hits, some obscure tunes, lots of songs that you'd always wanted to hear but never thought they would....
All the way back to the earliest, through a number of Pet Sounds and Smile tracks to the new stuff. Was amazing. Best songs of the night ( for me anyway):
'Hero's and Villians" ( feturing incredible harmonies), "Sail on Sailor" with Brian Wilson handling lead vocals, and some of the earlier hits like "Be True to Your School " and "I Get Around"
All said and done, a superb night. My friends in Europe, they're coming your way soon-- dont miss it

the new one? it's a pleasant little listen with elements of early beach boys, pet sounds-era beach boys and kokomo-styled beach boys. not exactly a work of art, though. the classic harmonies are still there a-plenty, however. i give it a 6 on a 1-10....
