There's an annual charity auction on Martha's Vineyard to help less-fortunate Islanders. Two years ago, one of the prizes was an evening with Carly Simon where she would reveal who was the subject of "You're So Vain." The winning bid was $50,000 but recipient was sworn to secrecy.

p.s. I still think it was written about Mick and I always thought Memory Motel was written about Carly. Please feel free to shed some light.

Always wondered who this one was supposed to be about. Obviously, she couldn't possibly have known Mick as a "small boy", but this song does make me think of him all the same.

Thanks HB. I always loved Carly. Those 70s hits are like photos from my childhood.

Never understood why every interviewer needs to ask Carly THAT question. She's not going to answer it and it's just boring, like asking about a Beatles reunion. Who knows, maybe if you don't ask, she'll be so shocked that she'll blurt out the answer?

agree - and i didn't actually bring it up - she did - so i just asked her why it has become such a big deal - if it hasn't been fabricated a bit -

Carly could have put the tiny todger rumor to rest once and for all.

I thought "THE QUESTION" was along the lines of your post, which would have been the real challenging question to have her bring up as it would be not cool to ask that one.

If she really had a steamy affair with MJ, that would be an interesting insight into MJ, if someone could get her to kiss and tell one day.
