"saw you stretched out in room ten-O-nine with smile on your face and a tear in your eye..."

"Well the ballrooms and smelly bordellos
And dressing rooms filled with parasites
On stage the band has got problems
They're a bag of nerves on first nights"

Good thread cats! I know more of the beginning lines of all their tunes cause that's what it takes to remember the whole lot when you are singing them. Get the first line al the rest just flows....usually. But I do indeed have my favorites:

"I been sleepin under strange strange skies"

"I hope ya don't see me with my ragged company"

"In the silk sheet of time, I will find peace of mind"

"What tender days we had no secrets hid away"

"black girls just wanna get f u c k e d all night long I just don't have that much jam"

peace

how 'bout one from the 60's...absolutely classic:

"Doctor please, some more of these, outside the door, she took 4 more, what a drag it is, getting old..."

Ha - no fair, treacle - you read my mind!

"Someday I'll hear some laughter in an out-of-town cafe
I'll be reaching for your number, I'll be calling out your name (calling out your name)"

I love you, dirty @#$%&

Yes I'm nitty gritty and my shirts all torn
But I would love to spill the beans with you till dawn

Wham, Bam, Birmingham,..
Alabam' Don't give a damn!

Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work

All I want is Ectasy
But I ain't getting much
Just getting off on misery
Seems I've lost my touch

Yeah, Ali McGraw got mad at you
For giving head to Steve McQueen

What can a poor boy do
'Cept to sing for a rock n roll band

This is such a hard choice!

I can't disagree with any posted so far. How about I add these lines:

I hear the click-clack of your feet on the stairs
I know you're no scare-eyed honey

And

People tell me you are a vulture
Say you're a sore in a cancer culture

Re-post of a great article:

Mick Jagger: Our Most Underrated Songwriter?
By Ron Rosenbaum 12/10/01 12:00am

He’s got another potential classic in the anthemic “Wild Horses” mode on his new solo album, Goddess in the Doorway –a song called “Don’t Call Me Up.” But that’s not what prompted this column, or even my call to radio guru Jonathan Schwartz.

But i see you in my inner eye. Touch me with a gentle smile. Wonder if you catch my mood. Can you feel my solitude.

Is there a more regal moment..a more poignant outpouring of melancholy...in a Stones related song in recent memory...not IMO...
