Pleased to meet you...Where are you from?
Posted by: memphiscats ()
Date: March 6, 2012 22:04

Hi all,
I think one of the best things about IORR is how many people we have from all over the globe. I thought it might be interesting & helpful if members share where they're from and/or lived.
Ah yes, I can hear the collective groan from the "seasoned" IORR members who've probably been there/done that. But for those of us who are new, it would be interesting to see how many countries/communities are represented.

p.s. Those of you in the Witness protection program - your secret is safe. smoking smiley

I'll start:
Toronto (born 1962)
Duxbury, MA (small town about 40 miles south of Boston)
Bermuda
Baton Rouge
New Orleans
Boston
Luxembourg
Tunbridge Wells, UK
Cape Cod (Falmouth, MA) - current
Memphis - current

Northern N.J. the most underrated place to live in the world. Within a short bus or train ride into New York City the greatest city on earth.

Yeah, I lived there for a year when I was 9.....one night walking home from Boys Brigade (like scouts) after dark I got a chilling feeling that there were loads & loads of people watching me....(but couldn't see anyone)...I started running and didn't stop 'til I got home........I never forgot that really scary experience and wondered about it a few times over the years.............then when I was about 20 I found out that the town is built on the biggest plague pit in Europe - hence the name..........that info acted like an explanation and after that it never bothered me again..........but you're right of course...the name doesn't exactly give it a head start............confused smiley

Wow - this is so cool & interesting to read - Ha - I like the Gravesend comment - and I had to look up Coeur d'Alene - thought it was some funky island - who knew it was Idaho.

NICOS - I watched the video but needed translation - was that you on the scooter? cool smiley

And hey, Mr. DJA - you followin' us? My husband will be happy to hear that we're not the only ones who moved from the Cape to TN. smoking smiley

This is great stuff!! I guess we should pick somewhere in middle of everyone to have our party - can't let those SHIDOOBEES have all the fun.

Memphiscats: When I saw your post I kinda thought the same thing... With me just a bit east of y'all! Mom & Dad have now retired to S. Yarmouth so I still get back every now & then & will always consider it to be part of "where I'm from". Except for the winter, I wish I could still call it home. As my wife (native Tennesseean) says "more fried fish & Ice Cream than any place on earth". Not sure she's 100% correct but I do know they've got E. TN beat!

Peace,
Mr DJA

Yes - I want say it was on the same rail line that I took from out of London to Tunbridge Wells - but that was about 15 years ago - a little foggy. But we used to drive to Beachyhead on the weekends (we missed the sea)

Ha - I have to laugh about the fried catfish. When we first got here we went to a "fish fry" and here I was stupidly thinking it might be a variety of fish - nope just cat. I still can't quite warm up to it...doesn't seem like a "fish-fish." I miss my sword! I don't miss the winters in the NE but these tornadoes are scary things. I'm lucky - I still go back to the Cape every summer to escape the Memphis heat!
Rock on! smoking smiley
