Great Songs That Sound Like The Stones - but are not written nor performed by them.
Post your favourites...

This sounds like Mick Taylor era - Rolling Stones to me:

Social Distortion "California (Hustle and Flow)"

To sum it up:
The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker
Primal Scream - Give Out But Don't Give Up

The best Stones albums that isn't the Stones. Those two albums is what Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge should have been.

Ehem, this is truely awful - sounds like somebody trying to copy Gary Glitter; not copying Rolling Stones. Then again; most songs by Kiss sounds like that.

Actually, "Mr. Speed" by KISS has a more Stonesy vibe than "Strutter".

Agree, but still they have that "naive" guitar sound, chord progressions and approach, not unlike the Stones.

I'm leaving the vocals out of this... winking smiley

I think most of the "Stones sounding records" sound like The Faces,
because people who want to sound like the Stones mostly end up like
sounding like the Faces.

I´m repeating this as long as everybody understands: This is the
most Stones sounding song from Germany: TRIO

First it´s rehearsal sounding Stones after a five year break :-), switching
instruments at 1:13, starting a great Stones riff at 2:30. Great! Listen!

Rebel Rebel - David Bowie, I mean, what was he thinking of? Is it true that Bowie is the biggest copying machine in the world?

Not the whole song, but the guitar parts (at the beginning especially) are definitely Stones-inspired.

Also true of the guitars in the middle of "Cherry Bomb" from the same album. Mellencamp once opened with "Gimme Shelter" on one of his tours, so he's a fan.

Fellow Canadians, The Tragically Hip. Relatively unknown outside our nation, they're legends here.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello is similar to Stupid Girl by the Rolling Stones

Little troublemaker from Ian McLagan
Kill City - a lot from this Iggy album sounded Stonesy
Many 90's bands like Green on red, etc. had a Stones feel to them.
And the most Stones sounding German song should be "Sexy" from M. M. Westernhagen (he had a few more . .)

DP we don't often disagree, but that song is pure crap
The spoken intro warns one of the shite to come...

I need a mint...

hahaha!

Sass Jordan does have better stuff, and she's a very nice woman in real life. I didn't care for this song when it came out. Ironically Chris Robinson accused her of ripping off the Black Crowes' sound/mojo/vibe.

Did you know that even though he denies it now, Eddie Van Halen wanted to recruit her as the next singer for VH???

I agree on Kill City - it´s one of the best Stones albums that Stones never did, - There´s lot similar feel to Iggy´s New values album:
Dont look Down from New Values album.

I think STRAY CAT BLUES may well have inspired this Louis XIV song (lyrically and sound-wise) titled FINDING OUT TRUE LOVE IS BLIND

The Guitar Weaving... Wooops I said it... In the Pretender's My City Was Gone reminds me of Keith and Ronnie's weaving in the 78-81 era.
