Somewheres abouts this here board I read that Jones referred
to The Who's ( then ) current sound ( re: "My Generation" LP )
as being similar to The Stones' sound in '63 and preferred it.
Kinda makes me think the REAL reason he didn't like Jagger/Richards
compositions is 'cuz they didn't swing so hard, at least not at first.
Obviously Jones loosened up as his later style softened measurably
while complimenting the music quite well.

So Brian preferred the early rough'n'ready sound of gems as these,
a sound the band really wouldn't consistently revisit until the end
of the decade:
