It was a dream, dream I had last night
I dreamed I went to the UN
And set the whole nation right

I dreamed of callin' old Castro
To the morning flo'
Looked him right in the eye and said, "Boy,
You got to go!
I'm tired of your foolishness
And if you don't behave,
I'm goin' grab you by your beard,
Give you a Georgia shave!"

It was a dream, a dream I had last night
I dreamed I went to the UN
And set the whole nation right

Then I told old Khrushchev
Sittin' there looking bad,
"Get that junk outta Cuba
'Fore you make me mad.
Dig up them missile bases
Take them planes and all
Or I'll grab me a bat
With your head for the ball!"

It was a dream, dream I had last night
I dreamed I went to the UN
And set the whole nation right

Then into Washington they call me
An' I went
Hadda be the guest
Of the President
He said, "Red, I'm glad to see you,
So glad you come down here
To help me run the Russians
From the western hemisphere!"

I said, "You can run the country
I'm goin' to run the Senate
Oughtta make a few changes
With a few soul brothers in it.
Ray Charles and Lightnin' Hopkins
And a guy like Jimmy Reed
Bo Diddley and Big Mabel
Be all I need!"

It was a dream, a dream I had last night
I dreamed I went to the UN
And set the whole nation right

I know some people who appreciate some of the music of the Rolling Stones but not especially Mick Jagger.

You're right - there are some people like this and even more people who appreciate Jagger as an artist, a performer,a cultural icon and yet they are completely indifferent to the Stones' music except for two or three most famous songs.
These people may think of Jagger and the Stones all they want.
But when a person is a Stones' fan - that is, goes to their shows, buying their albums and spends time on the Stones' message boards for years and years - so when this person says he does not like Jagger, it is an absurd.
He carefully turns away from Jagger and looks only at Richards, Ronnie and Charlie on their shows, he listens to the albums and skips all the songs with lyrics and vocals by Jagger and listens only to KR's songs - what a drug, I'd say why to suffer so much?

Obviously, that is not the case - he likes the Stones as they are, and he likes Jagger, otherwise he would not listen to this band.
So I say - this whole declared dislike for Jagger is an absurd.

The Stones have been and always be the greatest love in my life.
All i said and mean is, i dislike the latter day jagger.
his enormous ego, and his being over the top with the solomon burke tribute.
Ive got all their albums, many bootlegs, seen them many times live.
Jagger is great as a performer.
I only think he has to act his age, and not pretend to be a young man.thats my dislike in jagger.
I love the band, their songs.

anyway, end of discussion.

Mick Jagger wants to show that he does not accept the idea that you can't be what you used to be.
I'd like to see the band again on stage but Mick and Keith don't need to pose that much. It's funny when you're young but a bit ridiculous when you're not a young man anymore.

There are plenty of boring old farts who behave in accordance with the requirements of society as one should behave in a certain age.
Why turn the Stones especially Jagger - an extraordinary man in all respects - in somebody like everyone else.
Some people always blame the Stones is that they have betrayed the ideals of thier youth and became "Respectable". They can not understand that times have changed and protest too. In our days to be like you are and do what you want, not the society dictates to you - this is the behavior of a free man/woman.
Stones used to irritate the older generation, and ironically, now it is the older generation who demand that the Stones behave like their aging fans. The young people seem to like the reluctance to obey the rules.

imo.... Mick just gives the crowd what they want (most of them anyway) and he doesn't mind doing ...SAN FRANCISCO, LONDON, TOKYO, NEW YORK, ARE YU' ALLLLLRRRIIGGGHHHTT ????????,,,,(perfoming ???)...he knows it's a joke...(long gone are the days when people seriously thought people like him, Dylan, John Lennon were the new sages and were gonna save the world)....but what the hell..."It's only rock'n'roll" (sic)...............let's have a good time while we still can and if that involves listening or playing some great music while were at it great..................cool smiley

It is a good question. Why only Mick? Did the White House only invite Mick Jagger? Did they invite the band but for whatever reason the band couldn't do it so Mick decided to go by himself. May be Barack asked for Mick Jagger to be there, not the stones. Somebody, somewhere must know the answer.

Seeing that 2-21-12 hasn't happened yet Jagger may not play it for all we know. Something might happen.

So?????what are you on about??

Do you want Jagger sing the old shite??? Miss you????

I promise you, he wont do old blues songs...
He will prance around, and behave like he is a 40 year old man.

Jesus, i Hope he will do the old bluessongs, like with the red Devils.

But........... dont wet your pants

Anyhow, i knew i would get all those angry statements again. You cant stand any critiscm on the Might Jagger can ya all?
jeroen

If you presented a balanced opinion occasionally...maybe?

Why balanced????I think Jagger has too much ego. keef has also, thats true After my first encouter with the stones in 1973, my heart goes out for ronnie,Keef and charlie. Its my opinion, and my balance.
I think i am entitled to my opinion, right?? did not like Jagger at the Grammys, or what was it, when he did the solomon burke tribute.
Well, that was all JAGGER EGO strutting.
So...... do what you wanna do
One Love
Jeroen

Hey, you are entitled to your opinion...you asked 'generally' why some on the board can't stand your MJ criticism and I gave you a reason why. That, is only MY opinion, I speak for no one else.
