MICKBOY - 'Get Your Kicks On This'

After getting some of the Mickboy Remasters, and finding them brilliant - especially 'Only When it's Frozen' & 'Tastes So Good'; I'm wondering if the remasters of some of the early stuff - on "Get Your Kicks On This" is as good, any thoughts?

I got his "Dancing So Free" recently aswell, haven't had a chance as of yet to have a full listen, but form what I heard so far it sounds better than the Virgin version; less muddy. I love GHS but the mix can sometimes be awful on certain trcks. The UMG Remaster wasn't much better.

I don't like them. Mickboy uses tons of No-noise and other reductions. He also changes the tracklistings. He does everything that you should NOT do on a remaster.

I think "dancing so free" sounds better that Goat's Head Soup. The others I've heard are ok, good as a curio I suppose.

"Dancing So Free" is excellent work, but you have to enjoy his methods to appreciate it. Some don't.

I rather like the studio stuff. Dancing So Free really stands out tho (even Erik Snow likes this one and he definitely is not a MB fan). My other favorites are "Satanic Majesties" and "Black And Blue"( he "re-structures" both of these making it sound more like a full LP) along with "Bleed" and "Aftermath". BUT I'm not a fan of his live recording efforts..

I like what he does with changing up tracklistings etc. Often it is what us the fans seem to have come to prefer,
E.g. adding "Criss Cross" or "Through the Lonely Nights" to final releases.

mickboy's stuff never impressed me...he's very impressed with himself, however.

...and what the hell is a MICKBOY ?

it's an egomaniac who takes a stones record...tweaks the levels on an equalizer and presents it as some kinda miraculous improvement over the original...
