Set List

I have seen the Stones numerous times in concert over the years and I am really hoping for a 2012 tour announcement. Today while thinking where I wanted to go to see them in 2012 I started thinking about the set list I would want to hear. I know the Stones always have an opening act, but in 2011 I saw "Sir Paul' perform in Chicago without an opening act and he did about 35 songs. So I thought what would be my dream set list of 35 songs (assuming no opening act) that I would want to see the Stones perform. What a hard task but this is what I came up with as you can see I went with 37 songs and had to leave a bunch of songs off the list.

Not all of these songs are favorites of mine but wanted a good mix of 50 years of music. This is my set list, now tell me yours.

A 35-song set would take them over three and a half hours.

Never mind what songs I want them to play, I'll just be glad they're all still alive at the end of the night.

Like your choices - i thought about putting "Not Fade Away" on my cover list, because they do a great job with that one, but honestly I have to say The Dead covers that one the best. I decided to leave all covers out of my set list which was a hard decision since a lot of the R&B cover material they did was fantastic.

Also to Gazza - yes it would take that long but McCartney did it in 2011 and the concert just flew by and I had a 2.5 hour drive afterwards. That's why you can't have an opening act. BTW, that was my first McCartney show. I didn't even want to go but the wife did. I was glad I went it was very good so if you get a chance to go I would recommend it. The light show around Live and Let die was amazing.

Nice to give Midnight Rambler an honorable mention, but without it you get no support from me.

I'd love to. but he plays nowhere near me!

Paul's playing with younger and healthier musicians, though. A 4-piece band doesn't have that luxury.

Ok, I'll play along as all of us have done on numerous "fantasy" set lists threads. I'll keep mine to 20 since I don't think the band can play more than 20 in one night anymore. I will not include any tracks from the Exile outtakes or the Some Girls outtakes. Sorry, it will still lean heavily on hits as well songs I have never heard them play live and would like to see and hear performed.

1. Start Me Up (still the best opener)
2. Respectable
3. Shattered
4. All Down the Line
5. She Was Hot
6. Can't You Hear Me Knocking
7. No Expectations
8. Sweet Virginia
9. Dance Little Sister
10. Before They Make Me Run (only one Keith song this time)
11. Paint It, Black
12. Gimme Shelter
13. Sympathy For the Devil
14. Brown Sugar
15. Jumpin' Jack Flash
16. Street Fighting Man
17. Satisfaction
18. Sway/Time Waits For No One (my dream for Taylor to walk on and play it well)
19. Honky Tonk Women
20. Midnight Rambler

Make sure Dork Matthews doesn't ruin Memory Motel like in St Louis 1997 and Bono (pronounce BONO like Sonny BONO) doesn't ruin IORR like in Chicago 2002!

always wondered why the stones included extra long live versions of songs like you cant always get what you want when they could chuck in 3 or 4 short versions of early classic hits and in the process increase the set list, compressing the length of some of their songs and replacing with other songs and shorter songs could easily see a 30+ set list instead of 19 or 20 songs. would give more variety to the tour and keep us moaning stones fans happy
