A good quizz for the 1973 European Tour lovers
Posted by: Honestman ()

Got this shot, which come from a 1973 show and I would like to know where and when as I'm not sure, it has been published in a french magazine during the 70's, and there's no mention of the credits or somethin' else...like most of the time..

This photo comes from Sept/Oct 1973. Not 1970. Maybe Bern 1973.

Keith in black velvet jacket; Bill w/ SG Bass body; Steve Madaio on trumpet; the Chip Monck back lit stage from 73; Charlie's mullet - it is 73. Switzerland.

Checking with some other photos I have.....yes, open-g is right, it could very well be from Manchester 1973. Hard to be 100% positive since one can't see Taylor, and since the photos is taken from such a distance. But other Manchester photos I have match the shot posted by Honestman

He wore this jacket and played this LP Junior on every show, and wore these trousers on half of the shows. So it is not conclusive.

Yep, not conclusive.
that's why I put a sceptical "Hmm" infront of the obvious findings.

it could be Festhalle Bern too.

paging resotele and robertRMB who were in Bern and post here to confirm or deny.

I don't think this is Bern after all. I saw my pics from Bern, and they are the ones with Keith in the blue silk shirt, and some weird bandana deal on his head. Plus Jagger is wearing leather.
I have a pic from Koln 73 that looks very much like this set-up.
I know this is all based on grainy pictures that might are mis-labeled, but as educated guesses go - I say Koln, not Bern.

It was a place where Bobby Keys was still on the tour.

WHAT AN UNFAIR QUIZZ. I saw all 4 shows in Denmark, but only remember Jaggers cloth (same as on the picture - as far as I can see) It could be both Aarhus or Brøndby or non of them confused smiley

Edit: not Copenhagen. Theres no place in Brøndbyhallen where you could have shot that picture- from "upper-left" -I,m 95% sure - neither Aarhus.

Indeed it's impossible to be date certain 1973 pictures, where one doesn't see the entire band

BTW, here's another "undated 1973 shot". I think it's not to difficult to date this one, but I haven't gotten around to do it yet. Somebody knows ?

On one of the three Bern-shows Keith was, as mentionned, wearing a blue shirt and a strange head-covering, some sort of a turban, possibly with feathers. Jagger was wearing (if memory serves) a dark blue jumpsuit with dots or something.
I attended two of the three shows, but I don't remember exactly what the guys wore when. I was 19 then, and didn't imagine that someone could be interrested in their clothes almost 40 years later ....

Keep on rocking

The pics that I have from a newspaper, from Bern 73, where Keith is wearing blue have Jagger in a leather jacket; and it looks like those leather pants he wore in one UK show I think the same as "Mr D" video.
It is not so much being interested in their clothes 40 years later, as using this as a tool to figure out where certain photos are from.

This looks to me like the same clothes like OP. Also the brass section (w/ all 3 players) is Stage Left; On some shows the horns were stage right.

This is the one I find difficult. Denmark? One of the Frankfurt shows? Newcastle or Glasgow? I am just listing the lesser covered shows.
Could it be from a partial video shoot? Like "Dancing w/ Mr D" video? They used smoke there. An abandoned project?
More likely to be actual live shot. I just can't find a pic of Keith with striped trousers on 73 Euro.

Yeah, it's the smoke that makes this shot quite unique. Oh Keith wore those pants at other 1973 shows. Aarhus comes to mind.
He also wore them in 1975, during the first shows of the tour.

Indeed. I'm not interested in their clothes.....their love affairs, their personal life, etc. But I like seeing pictures from the very same shows as the one I'm listening to/have been listening to. It's a part of the RS live history, for me

Denmark or Sweden comes to mind first, that's where Keith wore those pants most.
