When announcing the release they want to do as an anthology cd and dvd

It should be like the Allmans archive recordings, or NYAS (Neil Young Archive Series) or the Bootleg Series by Bob Dylan.

What it shouldn't be like is the Beatles Anthology series; you had to get past Vol 1, then wait almost a year for 2 which had the Strawberry Fields outtakes, and finally another year for 3.

the allman archive recordings only has 5 releases and nothing new in the last 4 years

That's five more actual releases than the Stones.

There should be some more Allman archive recordings: I quite like Brothers & Sisters Allman era.

I believe there should be a deluxe edition of Brothers & Sisters, with an extra disc.

Speaking of Stones archive cds: there should be a series along the lines of Vol 1 - The Brian Jones years: Vol 2 The Mick Taylor years, and Vol 3 The Wood Years.

well with the allman brothers is you really want to get into they've done:
-DREAMS boxset (lots of rare/unreleased stuff)
-live at ludlow garage
-live at atlanta pop festival
- live at fillmore east (deluxe edition)
- eat a peach (deluxe edition with unreleased concert)
- 5 archive concerts

so they have done some more stuff just nothing recent

I have Ludlow, Atlanta, Fillmore, & Eat.

The forgettable material is post Brothers & Sisters. Brothers & Sisters is excellent, and Dickey Bett's solo album Highway Call, released circa the same time, is a country-rock-bluegrass gem. Also, circa the same time is Gregg's first solo album Laid Back, which is another quality album.

You have a long gap until the early 00s when Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes start firing on both cylinders.

I wouldn't mind a compilation of live tracks like Tom Petty has done with his Live Anthology.
Maybe the Stones should consider a chronological order, because they had more of a development
over the years then Petty and the Heartbreakers had. On the other hand, I like to play bootlegs
from different years at random from my hard disk, and it is an experience of great fun to have
Around and around of from Paris 1965 running into Stray Cat Blues from Stockholm 2003, followed
up by Rip this Joint from Brussels 1973.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

i liked everything the allmans did in the 70's and the albums on epic records in the early 90's

You liked everything by the Allmans in the 70s: would that include Allman & Woman by Gregg & Cher ?

Just teasing you, keefriffhard4life.

Wipe The Windows is a good live album.

However, maybe the Stones should do a mixture of studio outtake albums, and live archive albums.

The Allman Brothers FINALLY need to release a high quality, official DVD covering the Duane Allman years. I have a boot but it's crap. Hell, there's incredible Fillmore footage and more. But nothing comes out.

That'll be something to buy in the new year, in addition to some Brad Mehldau that I want, and hopefully some Stones archive box sets, and also some, albeit wishful thinking, Talk is Cheap with extra tracks, Main Offender with extra tracks, Johnny Cash Bootleg Series Vol 4, Bob Dylan Bootleg Series vol 10 (Hopefully an incendiary live gospel recording from 1979/80). I can but dream.

not right my dear
it all happened in 11 months: vol 1 was nov 95, vol 2 was march 96 & vol 3 (where the new recording was´nt finished, so left off) was released in oct 96
