But it's not the Stones.

The Beach Boys beat the Stones to it.

Now, if the Stones can only do it again.

Because it didn't say OT, and it was specifically designed to trick people into thinking it was news about the Rolling Stones 50th anniversary tour, only to find out it was about the Beach Boys.

So? Is that really a big deal? A little sense of humour goes a long way...

When it is a microscopically small sense of humour though, it really doesn't go a long way...it goes an infinitesimally small way...I concur with flacnvinyl.

Well, there have been a lot of fake "50th Anniversary Tour Announced" threads, so it's just kind of getting old. We have plenty of fake threads, and there is a thread about the Beach Boys "reunion". I wouldn't call the person stupid or anything, but it was unnecessary, and designed to trick people. I have a sense of humor, but the fake tour threads are getting old. A joke that is run into the ground stops being funny.

are you pulling my leg ?
I've been a Beach Boys fan since I was small. I had a copy of ALL SUMMER LONG before I'd even seen a Stones album. Always heard he wasn't very pleasant. Brian is a fragile genius.

Pet Sounds is an amazing album. It is a shame that they were never able to recreate that creativity. The late albums are horrible, even Smile (to me). I will still be on the lookout for new material. I would love to be surprised with a late career breakout album. A Beach Boys album produced by Panda Bear would be amazing!

The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary tour is bogus. It should have been this year. They recorded the record 'Surfin'' in October of 1961. Brian Wilson is quoted as saying, "When the Beach Boys got going in 1961...." It seems like they screwed up 2011 and now they're horning in on the Stones having 2012 to themselves.

Stonesrule, Mike Love may not be a pleasant person but his unique voice is a huge component of the Beach Boys' unique sound. I love their music irrespective of the personal nature of the individual members. This venture may prove to be a complete bust but I'd like to see the remaining BB's onstage together again. I agree, though, that Carl will be sorely missed.

I look forward to putting on my baseball cap and my Hawaiian shirt and being part of the oldest audience ever to shuffle into a concert hall for a rock event.

Yeah, that's exactly what they're doing...they're horning in on the Stones on purpose. I'm sure they discussed it and everything. eye rolling smiley

The Beach Boys recorded their last listenable album either 35 or 40 years ago, depending on how generous you want to be in giving them the benefit of the doubt.

eggs in french, is l'oeuf, which they loosely use to describe a score of zero in sports (because of the shape of an egg)...from that, in tennis, a zero score in french is l'oeuf, or as the english bastardized, 'love'...which is a zero score now, in tennis.

That my friend, is the price of eggs, or l'oeuf....love.

The problem with a really good Beach Boys Reunion, sound wise, is that you'd have to populate the stage with the actual musicians who recorded their records like Hal Blaine and Carol Kaye. Their most able musician, after Brian, was Carl. Face it, it will be a nostalgia fest with beach balls bouncing through the stadium. Unless I'm pleasantly surprised, there won't be any great musical surprises. Brian solo is much better at this stage.
