Fantastic and Excellent....but truly like the Stones original version better, Mick actually sings it with more sheer, true emotion....I often wonder if this was an ode to his former love Marianne Faithfull..but that is pure speculation.

The Stones version is probably my favorite too - it's just a wonderful song

I was at this show in Hartford '99 (living in Brooklyn then but THEY SKIPPED NYC!!!!). The night the Huskies won the championship, so the crowd was distracted, but the band was on.

This was the highlight....

Let's say that Burke and Stones-99 draws equally but who can beat 'Sticky-version' with it's mean and sharp organ parts?

I don't know if this performance is better or worse because I just keep thinking
WTF is Mick wearing?

Less clothes the better.
It's probably difficult to understand that Mick sings not only for middle-aged men.
I see that girls at the end of the clip are quite happy. Judging by their smiles the view of his nipples does not offend them. I like it too

"In the silk sheet of time I will find peace of mind" One of his best lines. Now, compare to the angst-ladden "Time waits for noone, and it won't wait for me" line.

Back in (say) 1965, anyone predicting that Solomon Burke would cover a Stones song forty years later would probably have been instantly committed to a lunatic asylum.

that time and Stones covered Solomon's Cry To Me on Out Of Our Heads in 65 ....

You're right, I hadn't thought of Otis' version of Satisfaction. Good thing I wasn't in charge of committing people to lunatic asylums back then (or now, for that matter)...

The thing is Make Do With What You Got is a relatively poor album: I also like the cover of Dylan's What Good Am I.

All told, it was a poor follow up to the Joe Henry produced Don't Give Up On Me, which is a late period masterpiece that the Stones should aspire to.
