I hadn't realized Keith had already begun playing so little guitar on his tunes that early. I thought it was later in the Vegas era.

Would be even more interesting to hear this version, after one had removed the backvocals from the mix - if that could be done.

Erik I was thinking otherwise. I believe the backing vocals are good. They change the nature of the song for sure. It's less rock and roll and more soul music but it works on me.

Actually; I didn't mean that the backvocals aren't good (not that I like them in general though); but I meant that it would had been much more of a "trainwreck" if they weren't there.

C'mon, that's not a train wreck. the performance that is.

the degraded vhs video copy, probably now in mono and compressed to the brink - is another thing.

I was just wondering the other day when they began to play "Before They Make Me Run"...doesn't this tour mark their first time bringing it into the set? This explains why it's barely coming together...it's a new song and not exactly the smoothest uncomplicated rock song to play. Had Keith been playing this song at all in past solo shows?

Keith usually backs off the guitar when he's unsure of the changes. So instead of bum notes and wrong chords...he'll just play gingerly...or not at all. It's something he seems to have done even then....and eventually perfected up to recently.

Keith did it with New Barbarians 1979 and with X-pensive Winos in 1988....lotsa times. Think it was at every show.....so he was familiar with it. But Rolling Stones didn't do it live before 1989; that's true

Thanks Erik...seems Keith had trepidations playing it with the Stones for some reason. If he played it that often solo, you'd think he'd be leading the band through it since he had the most experience with it.

In all threads I always see the Youtube video's like this.
Does anybody knwo what I have te change in my browser settings so that they will be shown?

If I want tos see the clip I do "Quote This Message" and copy the URL from there. But this is very annoying.
Does anybody know a solution for this?

And Mick's grand plan for the next 2 decades is beginning to make more sense.

Actually, truth be told, those mistakes were written years ago, with input from Brian Jones, filmed and then put on Youtube to mislead you. It's all part of the PR for the 50th anniversary.

Nah, they make those mistakes deliberately to wind up the Mick Taylor mancrush faction.

Well, it's down to a science now and gonna work every time.

If Ronnie could/would (?) just rip over the top of it, like 1976.... Taylor would still be missed but...

Of course if they'd been "weaving" here, like on She's So Cold, the whole train bridge and railroad go up in smithereens as surely as Gomez Addams sets off the dynamite...

Another reason that the the 81 and 82 tour was a farse! Put that in your bag of bootlegs Mathijs

In the original post up top, sounds like Keith starts the 'Happy' riff by mistake then quickly transitions.

Wow. That was awful. Poor mixing can't hide a bad performance. Bad singing, bad playing, any of it. In this case KEITH.

I beg to differ.
on She's So Cold it's clearly Charlie who's of the rails until Bill comes to rescue him.
even Mick doesn't know how to dance to THAT beat

I was commenting on the subject, not She's So Cold.
