what's wrong with bob's xmas album? arguably the best one he's ever done....

this list has been shrinking a lot lately as some older artists are no longer making albums worth buying but the list below i've purchased every new release within the first 2 days of it coming out since 1994:

Bought it and couldnt get to the end of it, but yes I did get it when it came out!

As soon as I find out...anything by Bob Mould, Frank Black and Kate Bush

None. Music is spread to my sources much differently these days. But I am usually well warned and already heard stuff I want prior to the day of release.

Or I don't find out about it at all in which case another question like "What artists do you buy the first day you are AWARE of a new release". My list would be quite long. peace.

Rockman reminded us of the feeling when listening to Beggars-Bleed-Exile on vinyl for the first time, and sure, that could very well have been the must unbeatable experience....or....for me it was waiting for Dylans follower to 'Blood on the tracks'and 1976 it was released: Desire with the sharpest frontcoverpicture in history of LPs, and familiar as we were with already released single 'Hurricane' in the luggage, that album didn't dissapointed me......Born in Red Hook, Brooklyn, in the year of who knows when

Hmm, all this talk about Rihanna on this board ... I just don't get her appeal anymore now that she does not have that cool short haircut with the shaved back and sides anymore.

I feel, with her it's like with the Rutles: they were all about the trousers.

Not anymore but that was Stones, Bowie, Roxy and Lennon

actually there's not much buzz at all on this board about Rihanna or any of the
people that dominate the pop charts, not because they are mostly about the trousers
or the meat dress or the video, though some of them are, but because they are
mostly about the song and the singing, with non-blues/rock music.

in other words, they are not enough about the MUSIC generally and the BLUES specifically.

the contradiction in this is that it is not applied to pre-1980 artists.
similar non-heavy music from motown or stax for example is given a pass
even though it was all about the song and singing too.

this contradiction is driven home further when you see someone like beyonce
absolutely nail etta james in that chess records movie. it makes it clear
that beyonce understands and could easily do what lisa fisher does, she
just chooses not to do that more stonesy kind of music. there's just no current
market for it.

so our approach to the music of this current era was sort of like the motown
era, song by song. we liked smokey robinson's hits but not too many of his
filler songs. so same thing now for bruno mars.

but rihanna's something different. six killer albums in six years, with hardly
a less than very good track on any of them. with, like SuperHeavy, a lot of
tracks that are unlike anything else. three or four compelling newly invented
sub-styles of music per album, swallowing up pop and rock and reggae and hiphop
and dancehall and dance and spitting out Rihanna music. we've never heard the
first six albums from ANY artist be this impressive. not just from a song
and singing standpoint but also from a MUSIC standpoint. Rihanna may not be
superheavy but she definitely is heavy.

Back in 80s alot, Stones, Heart, Rod Stewart...now no one.

Used to be the Stones - Now it is nobody.

Sure! Ginza got my order the day I find out it will be a new record from Uffe..There is a few more swedish artists like David Sandström or Thåström also, but to mention them here felt a little 'överkurs'...

Only The Stones, Oasis and The Who. But I didnae buy Beady Eye's one on the day it came out cos I was in the desert at the time and I haven't bought Noel's new yet cos it looks like someone is styling him and he's like Jagger, perfect within the band but lost without Keith. Noel's the same, without Liam. Roger's the same without Townshend. And Macca without John. If the exciting element during a gig is gone you might as well do the white line.

Those wasn't the Iphone-days and photos from show was strictly forbidden..they even searched for cameras at the entrance...The show was held in black&blue light just as the frontcover on 'Marquee Moon'...no good conditions for photos...do you remember the record-shop on 'Medborgarplatsen' Tubestation at the same side as 'Ritz'...there we bought our snap-shots from stockholm-concerts..but I haven't got any from just Television...
