OT Let me introduce a spanish rock gem.
Date: October 21, 2011 02:16

This song is sung by a famous singer who was specially popular in the eighties and nineties. He is still on the road and he has developed a broad careers in terms of styles.

He is also a stones fan and he played as opening act in the last Stones shows in Spain.

He and his band composed a song devoted to Stones whose title is Sympathy for the Stones.

This is other song: It may be the most popular and simple of his repertoire: "Rock and Roll Star", Ironic lyrics which I hope they are properly translated. Tell me if you like it

You have been lucky to meet me
I think that anybody likes being born to lose
You will open a magazine and you will find me
I might look a bit clownish but that makes me happy

My manager says “I will invest lots of douhg”
So that you become a rocknroll star
He says “i will make you rich, you just have to sing fine
Provided you are not shot ten times at the hotel entrance"

You will stare my image on the flyers so I sign on their back
You will think that I am somebody with a special touch
I am a street boy who lives his own song
I also get drunk and cry when I get down

I will put my rocknroll heart in the rain
And when my body gets filled with amphetamines and alcohol
I will wish somebody taking me when I collapse
So I will be lucky to meet you
Uh uh baby I am going to be a rock star

Has tenido suerte de llegarme a conocer

Invertiré mucha pasta me dice mi productor
me dice yo te haré rico tú sólo has de cantar bien

is 'pasta' used in Spanish slang for money?

Pasta is slang for money.

Pasta refers also to the italian and pastry and overall muddy stuff.

Spanish is not the perfect language for rock but...

There was also a spanish band who worked with anglosaxon poetry. For example Edgar Allan Poe´s poem Anabel Lee by a band called Radio Futura. (I do not want to be a pain in the neck so I will only keep on posting on this OT thread if there are futher interested people winking smiley).

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;—
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

She was a child and I was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love—
I and my Annabel Lee—
With a love that the wingd seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, by night
chilling my beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her high-born kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I see the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,
In her sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the side of the sea.
