Fort Worth 78 Guitar Question
Date: October 20, 2011 23:28

During Jumping Jack Flash, Keith has 2 Capo's on his guitar. On at the 4th and one at what looks like the 3rd. Does anyone know the reason for this? I have never seen this before (by keith).

I have seen it before & thought up until today that the only reason was so Keith could just remove one of the capos after a song & be in a new key for the next song. But if JJF was the last song that would be obviosly uneccsasary. I read a review today that said it was because he strummed so hard...two capos were neeed to keeep the guitar in tune. Also it looks like the capos are right next to each other...not sure what open tuning they use just a half step apart? ...so the keeping in tune seems to make more sense.

I think Chrism's right - the capos at that time were the elasticized-band types. I remember that they'd lose their tension a bit after a while and - depending on string gauge and where you were clamping them on the neck - you'd sometimes get a buzzing string. Thus, the double-up.

Good eyes, Moonlight Mile - I never noticed that the other night ... and those ol' butterscotch Teles are guitar porn, as far as I'm concerned. Oh, my ...

I saw that too and wondered why. Now anyone have info on the guitar with the rosewood neck? It was used for two songs in the film. I've seen pictures of it Before but don't know the details.

It's an orginal Fender neck from a '68/'69 Rosewood Telecaster (the 'George Harrison' model), with a Ted Newman Jones body. TNJ has stated in an interview that he had this beautiful neck and just had to make a guitar out of it.

Yeah I am kinda hyper-focused on Keith. Even in the Concerts I watch his every move.

Another thing I noticed, that I never saw before. On the Blonde open G Telecaster (I can't remember it's name), he had the old style Ash-Tray Bridge with the Saddles. All the other pics I have seen of this old workhorse it had the individual string Intonators (I don't know the proper name). Could this Tele be somewhat new to him during that time? OR did he not change the bridge till post 79?
