Dave and Joss gave a 6 minute interview on German TV and the subject of
SuperHeavy did not even come up.
Thanks and praises Jah, because this SuperHeavy letdown has been completely
buffered by Damian Marley releasing a great new single. Nothing could be more
welcome at this moment, except of course Damian Marley releasing a new album.
No word on that yet.
Enjoy:

(You can watch "Saadda Haq" from the film at the following link. Its like
time tripping, watching another culture being introduced to head-banging music...)

I discussed it with two friends last night. Their point, which I shared, is that there are no songs on the album, just big riddim based dance-hall workouts. Fine for a loud bar or party but otherwise insubstantial.
Well, that certainly describes the first song, so if you're not actually going to listen to the whole album...

Actually, we agreed that "crap" describes the whole album. "Cringe-worthy and "an embarrassment" were bandied about as well.

Well ok then...you're observations are a little more well-rounded now!

My wife absolutely hates the Stones. But when I first played the Superheavy album she asked who that is and it was the first time she listened to a whole album of anything Stones related.

I brought her to see the Stones in 1998 and she slept through half of the show

Have been surprised by the amount of people we've shown the MW video to who simply
cannot get past the pink suit. Not all negative, but mostly. They think the suit
is ridiculous, so they don't give the song a chance. Others fixate on the pink suit
as a sort of positive, the way it emphasizes the 68 year-old's astonishing
physicality, but again, at the expense of hearing the song, or at least the music.
So amongst all our friends, we are in the definite minority in both enjoying the
pink suit and not finding it a complete distraction.

As young hoodlums in NJ, running with the Italians, tough guys wore pink. Not
pink suits, but pink shirts were a fashion, burgandy pants, and black cabretta
leather jackets.
Later on, as clean midwestern punks in Mpls, pink shirts were also okay, with
retro skinny lapel suits from the thrift store. During this period, surely a
pink suit would have been okay too, if there was any such thing.
So don't think we have worn pink since about 1980. But still occasionally
see young hipsters doing the pink shirt with black leather jacket thing.

pink suits tend to have the effect. i'd say in prolly 95% of the time i've worn one, i wasn't given a chance, either.

Yeah I agree, that was great that VL costume.......I was thinking the other day wasn't VL tour the last time Mick dressed in theatrically....we all know about his 70's stuff, satin etc...(except '78 of course), then the American Football outfits in '81/'82, then the Dandy 3/4 length dress coat for Steel Wheels etc and the Voodoo costume in '94 but since then a coloured satin shirt has been the extent of his dressing up..........
However.....
Re. the pink suit...I think he does like pink...I heard he painted his house in Cheyne Walk (years ago) pink..................
