Olympia '95 V Olympia '03

'95s sound is so much better than 03 and they play so much better. I think the vegas era peaked in the summer of 1995. Bridges and No security just didn't do it for me guitar wise. I vividly remember Wembley'95 on the 16th Ronnies solo on all down the line was so loud and filled the whole bloody stadium I just was amazed. Was it Benji .... ? who did live sound up till 1995. I know he did Keiths 92&93 live sound and that was so loud and balanced. Anyway loving the 1995 club shows I believe it is some sort of peak for the band. By the way I'm 40 years old and been a mega fan since 1988 when I was 12 !! I have not missed a London show since 1990 except the London club show in 03. First ever gig 18-12-1992 Keef and Winos Town and Country club. I will never forget him storming the stage and ripping into Take it so Hard I still think about it 25years laters and my hairs stand up

Both are great. Two shows with different concepts, though.

I liked the 2002/03 arena and club tour. Not so much the semi-acoustic 95 club tour.

Maybe it depends on what show one experienced in person?

You did not like the first Paradiso show (I was there spinning smiley sticking its tongue out) in Amsterdam 1995?
Did you see the Totally Stripped DVD of this show?

My top 3 of attended shows is:

1. Amsterdam, Paradiso 1995
2. London I , O2 2012
3. Utrecht, Vredenburg 2003

Maybe it does. I have only seen the Amsterdam show on DVD. Although I attended the Licks Tour 2003 in Stockholm (stadium and arena).

Paris'03 was very weak, problably the weakest of the 4 2003 club-shows.
Blame it on the axemen...

I have 'em all on bootlegs, and I can't agree with that – including the axemen's performance. However, Ronnie was very drunk in Paris..

The guitars are mixed very low on 03 due to their poor playing they play better now technically than in 03 and there is too much auidience noise mixed into the 03 compared to 95

And the recording / mix / balance of the guitars is poorer on Totally Stripped.

I guess we can't have it all smiling smiley

I will say that Richards was on his game during the 'No Security Tour' of '99.

Olympia '03 got off to a rough start with "No Expectations" and "Hand of Fate" but they seemed to pull it together after that.

Olympia '95 is great but it strikes me that the You Got Me Rocking / All Down the Line / Shattered / Beast of Burden section sounded better in 2005 (August 23rd and August 26th + October 6th and October 8th). More of a rough edge. The same goes for IORR.

I don't know about these exact two gigs;
but I too would take the '94-'95 tour in general over almost anything that followed.
