Going to Amsterdam. Any Stones sights?

I'm taking my girlfriend for some windmills, tulips and reefer. Would there be any Stones-related sights? Where did Charlie almost got Jagger punched out the window? grinning smiley

I guess that is the best suggestion for now!

Herengracht 666 ? Sounds more like 2000 Light Years from Home.

Which makes your 'trip' to Amsterdam ("Em-ster-dem"...) complete

Forget the Amstel beer in Amsterdam, try the Oranjeboom. For the smokeables you should go to the Bulldog just because it's so popular, I met Sean Lennon there a *ahem* couple of years ago. And there is this awesome pancake place right across the square so munchies are no problem. There are two Greenhouse coffee shops, the original in the suburbs is the main one, as far as I know both are still open. Have rijstaffel while you're there, my favorite place in Kantjil though I'm sure our Dutch friends have other (and probably better) recommendations. And if you've never been before take a canal cruise, it's a fun easy way to see the city. If you like art at the very least go to the Van Gogh museum it's not too huge so it's not a day killer. The Rijksmuseum is more of a commitment but I think that is undergoing refurbishment anyway.

You can check out the Hotel Pulitzer the Stones have stayed there recently. I adore Amesterdam, it's really a beautiful city. An my favorite thing is even for this reasonably well travelled New Yorker, I'm guaranteed every time I go to see at least on thing that makes me do this: eye popping smiley

Paradiso is an obvious answer, although I'm not sure how interesting it is in their absence.

Oranjeboom is some nasty Rotterdam beer from the past.

Better try some 'Grolsch'

(for Harry Muskee, who just did die at the age of 70, one of our famous Dutch rock&rollers)

No Stones sights, but I can recommend this little restaurant, where Dutch actress
Katja Schuurspons did her make up:

And you can have a Zen meditation opposite the restaurant.

Serious:

It really depends on what you're looking for and impossible to tell in a nutshell.
Best rent a bike and talk to locals. It can lead to surprising results, or visit the tourist info.

Man did I get schooled on my beer recommendation! Well my friends and I enjoyed it and no one got headaches. But I bow to the superior knowledge of the Dutch folks on the subject. I'll just mosey my beer ignorant American self on out of here.

Can you actually still buy Oranjeboom in Holland? I thought it was banned by law years ago.

Anyway -don't go chasing Stones spots, their none really except for the Rai (boring) and the Amstel Hotel (more boring). Skip the weed, as a trourist you get bloody awful stuff, and it's even more boring.

My advice: go to the Hermitage, it is the most beautiful building and museum on the Netherlands, and has a fantastic (albeit somewhat expensive) restaurant. It's a five minute walk from the Waterloo square. Visit het Concertgebouw at the Museumplein, it's one of the best concert houses in the world. For dining, reserve in Bordewijk, the best restaurant in Amsterdam (no stars, so normal prices). It's in the Jordaan, the most beautiful neighbourhood of Europe.

For Tourists only, skip it! Just take a very early morning stroll along the canals.

And visiting Promotone, one can always drop in to the psychologisch advies, as required or prophylactical.
