Are there any Stones songs appropriate for a wedding?
Posted by: James Kirk ()

We have a family wedding coming up and the groom wants to incorporate at least one Stones song into the mix, but I am drawing an absolute blank besides "Sweet Hearts Together" which the groom claims is the worst Stones song ever written and Keith's live version of "The Nearness of You" problem with that is the bride doesn't want Keith's vocals scaring the guests smiling smiley

Any other options you can think of? Thanks in advance.

Sleep tonight is kind of a nice and tender song by Keith!

Ha,ha...I know it's only a matter of time before someone mentions Bitch, Love in Vein, etc...

Part of the reason why we love the Stones is that they generally having very little if anything that is sentimental. That said there must be one Stones tune that could fit a wedding. I mean they have been recording for half a century.

I just thought about the fairly obscure "For Your Precious Love"

Yep!

And could you imagine the reaction at a wedding reception if the DJ played the Jimmy Soul song that Bill covered on Stone Alone, "If You Want To Be Happy"?

Just for that you should play "Little T&A"

musically, it's a lovely song to slow dance to. but lyrically, not so much.

"Sweethearts Together" was the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding reception.

Satisfaction. everybody knows it, and it will get everyone to the floor singing along.

"You Got the Silver" is pretty romantic, in a roundabout way.

Heck, I think most Stones are party time, good time, having fun, wedding reception type of songs... maybe a better question would be what songs are not appropriate for a wedding?
