Time Has Come For Keith To Go Solo And Become The Next Bob Dylan!
Posted by: thewatchman ()

I have always thought that eventually, when the Stones playing days were over, and they are over, that Keith could go solo and become the next Bob Dylan if he truly set his mind to it. Let's stop kidding ourselves, (I know I have been) the Rolling Stones are done! Finished! Mick has moved on (SuperHeavy) and Keith should to! Let the battle of the solo careers begin! Keith Richards vs Mick Jagger! That should give us enough to discuss until the end of time, should it not?

HA

Keith doesn't have enough juice in the can to be the next Keith Richards.

Not sure about being the next Bob Dylan but I'd rather have a Keith solo album than a group effort.

He could certainly out perform Dylan these days!

Good god you're schizo...

...and regarding 'juice in the can', you've nailed it IMO.

So, you're saying the 'greatest living Englishman' >grinning smiley< can't be as least as good as Dylan?

Yeah, just Keith sitting in a chair with an acoustical guitar doing some folksy blues would be better than what we are getting now, and that includes SuperHeavy, although I liked Mick's vocals in Miracle Worker (or whatever it's called) despite the fact that he looked ridiculous in that hot pink suit.

I may be schizo but you know damn well that what I am saying could become a reality if Keith were to set his mind to it. He reminded me a lot of Dylan (only Keith's voice is better) the way he sang 'You Got The Silver' at the Beacon in 2006 for 'Shine A Light'.

The greatest songwriter that has ever lived, and Keith could be as good if motivated. Now that the Stones are history and Mick has moved on the door is wide open, the possibilities unlimited! Go Keith, Go! You can do it!

Keith should take a look at Neil Young. It is possible to play guitar and sing at the same time. Keith's problem is: too much posing and too little music. Good to be here, ggod to be everywhere, hitting his breast, balls etc. - blah, blah - just an excuse for not wanting music anymore or not able to play music anymore.

Take a look here:

Keith and Neil have basically same age (2 years difference) - so, no excuse except for lazyness or his arthritis, the latter one is excuseable, but then call it off and people will understand.

I actually quit drinking and it allowed me to see things as they really are! I have taken off my rose colored glasses, the Stones are history! That doesn't mean we have to fold things up around here does it?

awww watchman, you are mad as a bag of frogs...you really think Keith is capable of playing a series of shows (a world tour if you compare him with dylan) on his own, just him and guitar night after night, country after country? He just can't do it physically. Neil Young is an altogether different kettle of fish, he hasn't abused himdself half as bad as Keith has and doesn't have arthritis and twisted fingers, and can still sing.

Yes, if Dylan and Neil Young can still do it, why not Keith? I think a Keith solo career (provided he stuck with folksy blues) would blow Mick's SuperHeavy project out of the water!

Ok,I was just kidding Watchman. Good for you that you stopped drinking. But if Keith really had any inclination to play solo he would of done it by now. He exists only within the Rolling Stones. He could have done a lot of interesting musical things. But he never eally seriously pursued it. At 67 I doubt he'll start now,

And also a lot more individually creative than Keith.

You are vastly underestimating the abilities and stamina of Keith Richards and that is all I am going to say on the subject! All he needs to do is sit in a chair and play his acoustical guitar and it will blow anything Mick decides to do away. Not that I am not wishing Mick well, quite to contrary, I wish them both well on their future solo careers. Let the best man win!

Keith would drop any solo plans in a heartbeat to revive the Stones, we all know that, but the Stones are history so he really has no alternative unless he wants to retire which I can't see him doing.

Performing and creating are two different things.

Keith needs Mick to actually finish off the songs for him...he even admitted as much in his book!

Keith's great, but he's no Bob, as far as singer/songwriter/performer are concerned.

Talking about Stones - when was the last time you have seen an interplay between Ronnie and Keith like Neil and Bruce do, when was the last time we have seen Mick and Keith singing like Neil and Bruce do?
That just tells a bit where the problem is.

Keith is very philisophical, but "Saggitarius: half-man, half-horse with a license to shit in the street" is not very Dylan-esque.

Keith has a lot more depth to him than most people realize and has a lot of soul, just ask Don Was, who I trust more than some ice jingler. In a way Keith has been handicapped all these years working with Mick, however, he is at the stage of his life where he could write some fantastic folksy blues tunes and really tap his potential as a solo artist. I am sure he would prefer that the Stones continue on but that flag has already flown and is positioned at half mast.
