For the sake of this post I assume a "short" song is a song that is not longer than 2:00 on an official, studio recording (no live versions or outtakes), and "long" is at least 6:00 on at least one version of an official studio recording (again, no live versions, outtakes or remixes).

Shortest:

She Said Yeah 1:34
Not Fade Away 1:48
I Wanna Be Your Man 1:43
Susie Q 1:51
You Can Make It If You Try 2:00
One More Try 1:58
Don't Lie To Me 2:00
Come On 1:48
I Want To Be Loved 1:52
Good Times 1:58

Longest:

Midnight Rambler 6:53
Sympathy For The Devil 6:18
Jig-Saw Puzzle 6:05
Can't You Hear Me Knocking 7:16
Time Waits For No One 6:38
Slave 6:33
How Can I Stop 6:53
Thru And Thru 6:01
Fingerprint File 6:33
You Can't Always Get What You Want 7:29
If You Really Want To Be My Friend 6:16
Too Much Blood 6:14
Memory Motel 7:07
Goin' Home 11:13
Sing This All Together (See What Happens) 8:33

btw, the shortest live song might be 'Country honk' at Knebworth, August 1976, while the longest song is 'Midnight rambler' at Los Angeles; july 1975, clocking in at 14:30.

You can't always get what you want on LA Friday is 15:23.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Country Honk was only a snippet, so it doesn't count (they did also snippets of Everybody Needs Somebody and Pain In My Heart in 1965). And the longest was Sympathy For The Devil from Hyde Park which was 18 minutes long.

Thanks for the corrections, now we know all about it (except for the shortest prober live song).

Snippet too. I guess live versions of She Said Yeah from 65/66 which clocked below 1:30 were the shortest full versions played live.

Longest - SFTD Hyde Park 69 about 18 minutes?

In terms of "longest" songs, I don't think Goin' Home should count. Its literally a 4 minute song that they stretched out to 11 minutes and goes nowhere. So if I take that out, of that list of 14, 8 of them. Just over half.

She Said Yeah is one of my favorite Stones songs ever, short or not, so thats number 1. With Not Fade Away and Come On as close second and thirds.
