What a pleasant surprise. I hope there will be some live dates.

The cover of Neil's Rockin' In The Free World might seem like an odd choice, but that was actually the number Buffalo Springfield played as their encore during their brief reunion tour a couple years ago.

Not really. Neil's "New Mama" was on the 1975 "Stills" album, and "The Loner" was on the "Illegal Stills" record the following year. I'm sure he's done more Young covers since then.

Stephen looks healthy, and it's good to see him back in the game.

Well, there's this, but it's perfectly dreadful.

Check out "Word Game" from the new album. This'd be a helluva tour!

Might be great music but I can't see how there is much money in this effort due to how customers/fans buy music these days via downloading etc.

Isn't 90% of the money made in touring these days? How much are these old dudes willing to tour?

The 2013 tour never came to Michigan, but the 2016 tour did, and last night I was front row center at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. Phenomenal show. They played almost everything on both Rides albums, plus "Blue on Black," "Love the One You're With," and an absolutely epic rendition of "Bluebird" that for a Buffalo Springfield devotee like me, was worth the price of admission all by itself.

Speaking of the Springfield, it occurs to me that Stills and Shepherd share a rapport that is not unlike the dynamic that existed (and potentially still exists) between Stills and Young. The Rides are the only band apart from Springfield (and the occasional CSNY tour, of course) where Stills has had a strong second lead guitarist to push him to even greater heights. As much as I love CSN, I'd always wish while seeing them that Steve would crank up the volume and really rock out with someone he considered to be his equal. This is the band that allows him to do that. Check 'em out if you can.

The group has been together awhile and this is their second release. I just saw them in Milwaukee Tuesday night and they put on a great show. Some nice guitar interplay between Stills and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Good players throughout the band as well with keyboardist Barry Goldberg and the rhythm section of Kevin McCormick (bass) and Shepherd’s long time drummer Chris Layton (a member of the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble).
