Thx for these gems!

From JM's blog :

"I seem to remember Jim telling me he preferred the “normal lens” because it came closest to capturing what you saw with your own eyes. Another thing about Jim’s vision that just jumps out at you studying this work: He is shooting full frame, editing through the lens in real time, in the moment with no lighting equipment and no net.

In the age of digital everything all the time and the ability to correct, excuse me, “enhance” even the most egregious of errors via PhotoShop magic and the like, it staggers my mind to think that Jim never even CROPPED a shot. He used to say, “It’s either in the negative or it’s not.”

thumbs up

Can anyone identify the non-Stones people in the photographs? These are great!

He is! Keith mentioned in his 1977 Guitar Player interview that the guitar was stolen, during the tour if I remember rightly. Great pics! Thanks!

My guess is that you are too young to remember bell-bottoms.

F U C K I N G FANTASTIC! Wow . These pictures capture the image of the Stones that I fell in love with while listening to Sticky Fingers. Lifesytle outlaws every last one of them. Whoo Hoo!

Mick is beautiful , Keith is stoned, Charlie is ambiguous, Bill is a geek, and Mick Taylor is beautifully lost in it all, never to fully recover. Thank you for this post, it rocks my world today! Lots of hangers on as usual this tour. Probably guys with the best powders to grant them this access. Although I do see several folks like Marshall Chess who are part of the entourage.

I will make another request for anyone to identify all the folks in that 5th picture, please. peace

Thanks for the photos.

I presume the first shot is from the first SF '72 concert:

Thanks so much for sharing! Damn incredible! Yes, Mick was soooo beautiful ( still is but there's nothing like youthfulness. Keith looked " elegantly wasted" but still looked awesome. Charlie was quite handsome and MT looked childlike! I will buy this book. It will take me back to my Happy Place!

Curious...what song do you think they are playing in the first/top picture?

Keith seems to be in open G, judging from the left hand dangling. I would have guessed a HTW into..but doesn't appear to be the case juding from the two Micks. Taylor seems to be playing a E# minor (?) & Jagger looks like he ending a song.

Not all of these are "unseen". I've seen about half of these before.

I love the first photo showing Keith posing instead of playing and it appears as though Taylor is so bored that he's fallen asleep while playing guitar smiling smiley

The backstage couch scene with MJ elevating his feet from the carpet is from LA Forum. The couch scene with MJ sitting in purple suit is from San Diego.

The color Mick/Keith double exposure is most likely San Diego.

Marshall only did Western STP shows so ID'ing his pics is made somewhat easier.

I couldn't care less about this book... I want to hear some new music and not excuses. If the Beach Boys can come together and make a quality album that lands in the top 3 on the charts and do a major tour where they are playing 40 songs a night what are the Stones waiting for? Maybe Mike Love was right about Jagger? lol.

I mean how many times are we going to see pix and hear stories from 40 years ago? Who cares at this point about what happened in 1972?
