Main Offender, Talk is Cheap, Wandering Spirit, Slide on This, I Feel Like Playing - that's where the hot stuff is at.

Couldn't agree more. All of these albums are fantastic.

'Main Offender' really lacks good songs to my ears...

Me too. I love Eileen and Wicked As It Seems but I think many of the songs on Main Offender could have done with a bit more work on them.

I've become so disenchanted with Shine A Light I removed both albums from my digital library.

a hard question...i finally decided to go with Voodoo lounge, because some of its somgs i really like very much, in the first place LIS, YGMR, TMIU, IGO, ....but this doesn´mean that i dont appreciate BTB. in any case it is a close race between these 2. the same thing is valuable also for SW and BB, but on other level, because i consider them much weaker than the others....,

Which songs are these?

sorry for the inconvinance))
it is "Love is strong", "You got me rocking", "The moon is Up", "I go wild" and "Mean Disposition"!

Best Stones-related song since Start Me Up. Just wish it got the Stones treatment. Listening back, not crazy about the Winos sound.

Boston 1993? Classic, imo.

I enjoy the live Winos DVDs more than the albums, particularly Boston & Cologne.

I love Stripped and it's the only album recorded after Some Girls I still play a lot. Ok, it's 'old' material but it's a mature take on that material and the production values are excellent. I thin ABB is slightly underrated too, although I don't take it out too often. So late in the game it's a surprisingly versatile collection.

Steel Wheels Outtakes - I never even consider the official final release anymore; for me the Outtakes are the album

I really should investigate RS outtakes more. I have (I think) pretty much everything available from the Decca years, but very little from afterwards.

Sleepy City, the release of the Steel Wheels Outtakes was one of my favorite releases because it completely revolutionized my opinion of SW. That opinion had not been very high; mainly because of the cold digital, clinical sheen of the album.
But hearing the much more raw sound of earlier mixes made the album sound like a true Stones album. Plus, we got "For Your Precious Love" in the deal. It's omission is an even bigger mystery than "Under the Radar".

Outtakes as in boots? I haven't seen official release outtakes of SW.

Some good tracks, but overall it was a let down after what I thought was the amazing debut album. That and Wandering Spirit are as good or better than many RS albums.

Ahh, yes, absolutely beautiful song. Won't forget the moment when it dawned on me how good a song this is...the "leavin' me" hook is stunning imo.

I think I'm in the minority when I say I prefer Main Offender to Talk Is Cheap. Although 'You Don't Move Me' and 'Locked Away' are two of my favourite songs ever.

Yeah but you could enjoyed those goodies in the 70s and 80s if you bought the 7" releases.

I had some of them. It's too bad they insisted on putting previously released on an album tracks that are available elsewhere.

I am with Erik on this one. LIND was the obvious choice right out of the starting gate. It was the song where I sat up and took special note. But there was some nagging something in the back of my brain. It hit me that it felt too deliberate. Almost as if Jagger intended, and knew that this would be the reaction of the deep fans. The lyrics are empty; it's Jagger with lyrics he can do in his sleep. recently on "Wandering Spirit".

"Voodoo", wings down. "Bridges" has many moments too, sorta like "Goats Jr" and "Voodoo" "Beggars Jr". But "Voodoo" 's lead track is weak. Great geetar, weak writing.

Personally, "Voodoo" gets props 'cuz it's got the best rocker since "Respectable", "Mean Disposition", possibly even stuff off "Exile". "Out of Tears"is great, as is, "Sweethearts", "Car", and "Rainbows". Angriest album in a while for sure, and it generally works. Even the promo photoshoot for "Rolling Stone" mag was very "Beggars".
