Most experimental stones albums

Which albums do you consider the most experimental the stones had? Do you like them or do you prefer the classic stones sound?

Do you think Bridges to Babylon and a Bigger bang are expermiental?

And which albums do you consider the most traditional of their sound?

I think the most experimental are:

1.-Their Satanic Majesties
2.-Undercover
3.-Black and Blue
4.- Some Girls
5.- Emotional Rescue

satanic majesties, black and blue, between the buttons, goats head soup.

probably most stones albums have some degree of experimentation.

for most traditional sound, thats a difficult question, as the stones dont really have the one sound.

The first, and perhaps most daring, experimental album was BTB, imo.

So Satanic wasn't experimental and a move away from the pop/r'n'b they had been playing up till that point?? confused smiley

They moved, more or less, from rhythm and blues to music hall and pre-psychedelia with BTB. There wouldn't have been a TSMR without BTB.

Maybe I said it a bit clumsily smiling smiley

Their Satanic Majesty's Request and Bridges To Babylon are two of their most experimental, in my opinion. The former was unlike anything they had previously attempted, whilst the latter found the Stones dabbling in modern-sounds, trends, styles and production. Certainly, they had been at he forefront in years previous, but here were fifty-something's genuinely attempting to be relevant, fresh and exciting. The album is somewhat hit-and-miss - it's definitely over-long -, but they were trying. Their previous effort, Voodoo Lounge was an attempt at all-out retro, whilst 2005's A Bigger Bang was a mesh of the modern and classic. I find the adventurous and daring Bridges To Babylon to be the most satisfying.

Maybe add Aftermath to the list since it was the first Album of all Jagger/Richard compositions?
