The Rolling Stones are a BIG Part of Englands History
Posted by: colonial ()

With The Rolling Stones been a household name throughout the world its only natural they're go down in English history along with other great people and institutions that have made their country.Even the Do-gooders and the most conservative of people would come around to that way of thinking..smoking smiley

Yes they are part of England's history as well as the rest of the world.

Right. That's why Brian is buried at Westminster Abbey.

The Rolling Stones are a BIG success story, but not even a blip in the timeline of British history.

What absolute balls.

They're neither a 'household name throughout the world' (in Africa? China? Most of Asia in fact? Get real) nor are they anything but a 'blip' (as Edith correctly puts it) in our history.

Unless you think the country was formed about 50 years ago and that our schools are taught nothing but the history of popular music.

This is a joke, right? As much as I love the Stones, I think that eventually, they might make it as a footnote to a part of England's musical history during one small period of time. But, that's about it. Edith said it well.

I wouldn't call any of that a "BIG" part of England's history.

What is the purpose of posts like this?

I mean, they're not funny, informative, thought provoking or even interesting.

I know, I don't have to open them if I don't want to, but I think I do have a legitimate question.

The purpose is to generate as many "That's the stupidest thing I've ever read in my life" responses as possible. I really don't know what colonial's game is, but I think he may be a troll in disguise.

I don't know what I'd do if I woke up one day to not find one of Colonial's posts.

Will the Stones be remembered in 500 years like Shakespeare (who when alive was regarded as popular entertainment) is today ?........Not a snowball's chance in hell...........so for historical longevity thumbs down...................But..............for now short term they are definitely one of the jewels in the Crown of England's Glory......all the way..........

If they're such a BIG part of England's history, why did they become tax exiles 40 years ago? Their money obviously meant more than their legacy.

So it's sexual repression that is your problem? I mean, the mean spiritedness, the bully tactics, the sarcasm? Maybe you should give it a try, might reduce some of the rage that lives within you.smiling smiley

I guess they are unbelievably nuts, sometimes, however, turning comical in a grotesque kind of way, hence giving us a laugh in these days of no news from our band ...
