You would have to agree that some of the the solo songs were pretty damn good, but now we will never hear them live!

There is no place for solo songs in a Stones-concert, solo is solo and Stones is Stones. To play solo-songs would even be very offensive. Audiences come for the Stones, not for their solo-efforts, no matter how good or bad they might be. Imagine Mick doing Everybody Getting High or Primitive Cool or Half A Loaf... horrible. Even the best solo-efforts have no place within the StonesĀ“ cosmos, never, never, never. They should do some tracks from gorgeous Stones-albums like Undercover & Dirty Work instead.

The day the Stones do something the Eagles have done before will be a very bad day. How can anybody like the Eagles, I will never understand.

They have played a Ronnie solo track. Sure The One You Need.

That's right, but that song is a Jagger/Richards composition, isn't it?

By this rule, they could play Lonely At The Top,

Because they don't need solo songs to pad the setlist. They have more than enough in their own catalog.

The Stones already have lots of great songs they can't fit into set list the last thing we need is for them to eliminate more of their good songs for songs that ate not Stones songs. I don't even like it when they do cover songs live they need to do all Stones songs.

Indeed, it's the closest we'll get smiling smiley

PS: I think Richards/Wood would be a more correct credit for STOYN, though.

Sure The One and Act Together are listed as Jagger/Richards compositions. Solo songs during a Stones concert, why??

I don't think Mick had anything to do with either.

What would be the sense of showcasing their solo work during a Stones concert? They have TONS of RS songs from which to choose.

Although it's not exactly a solo tune, they've played Walk and Don't Look Back in 2002: [youtu.be]

Oh, sure, but no, hopefully not. Horrible song.

What a cop out, that Jagger did that tune. Complete crap.

The Stones rarely play album tracks from outside of their career peak era. So if they played solo tunes amongst their repertoire, those would be singles. Most of those are not suitable for a Stones show because the stonesy stuff on solo albums by the Glimmer Twins usually does not turn into a single. "Wicked As It Seems" might be the only exception to that.

To me, "Everybody Getting High" and "Say You Will Be Mine" would make every bit as good Stones songs as "Evening Gown" but only the fans in the audience know them. That's been different with "Emotional Rescue" which the Stones overlooked for decades when it came to their playlists: this song is on numerous compilations.

I think either "Trouble" or "Take it So Hard" would work. Charlie and Daryl would do really well with "Take it So Hard" and Ronnie would have fun noodling with Keith on "Trouble".
Both would require Keith to sing and play at the same time however.

Agreed it would be nice to hear either those during Keith's set.
But the trade off might be Mick demanding one of his solo songs played live?
Better off leaving the idea alone....

And because apart from whoever is the relevant solo-singer, the rest of the band present on stage are not the people who made that recording what it was, and probably won't do it justice.

"I can feel the fire" is about as close to a Stones song as a non-Stones song gets, that would be cool.

I remember back in 81 Bill said Mick asked if he wants to play Je Suis un Rock Star but Bill declined. Maybe Mick said it half jokingly.

I will say for the most part I am against this. I didn't like it when I saw the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and Simon & Garfunkel do it. That's what solo tours are for. I want to see Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Simon & Garfunkel, and Stones songs.

However it seemed appropriate for CSNY since there's been so many side project combos amongst them though at times it seemed like a Neil Young concert.

A lot of people don't listen when Keith plays his Stones songs. How sad.

I always thought it was the other way round: that Bill asked to play Je Suis Un Rock Star, and that Mick and Keith told him, in no uncertain terms, to discuss sex and travel.

Really? I've seen the Stones numerous times, and quite a few people ALWAYS flock to the beer stands or bathrooms when Keith steps up to the mic. It's not a mass exodus or anything, but it is noticeable.

I've heard people SAY they do that, but I have never seen it actually happen smiling smiley

Even on Can't Be Seen people were really paying attention. On Happy and Before They Make Me Run people were dancing and singing on the european shows.

Again, it's not a huge wave of people, but if people are going to hit the bathrooms or make a beer run, it's usually during Keith's set.

I haven't seen the Stones since 2005 though...maybe people are more appreciative of Keith's songs now given how close to the end of the line they're getting.
