30 years since Stu

December 12, 1985, thirty years ago today. In many ways, Stu was the glue that held the band together. I think he looks quite handsome in that second photo.

I think he looks a bit like Morrisey!

A great loss - in many ways!

Stu was amazing on so many levels. Would have loved to hear the stories he could have told about the Stones. Too bad he didn't wear his hair like the rest of the Stones perhaps he wouldn't have stood out to Andrew as the odd man out. Surely he was better looking than Bill Wyman? No? RIP Stu.

Love and light to Stu, and thanks and praises

Stu- you were indeed the 6th Stone (in spite of what Andrew may have thought image-wise). I'm certain your steady influence is missed. Rest in peace.

One of the greats. Always loved his playing and dedication to the band. A special guy that could never be replaced. The Stones would never be the same after his passing.

Ditto on loving his playing-I particularly love how his style of playing compliments the others on Little Queenie on Ya Yas.

Such a great man he was. I don't think I could have done what he did after Andrew made his decision. That tells me how much he loved his friends.
I have the A.R.M.S. concert from NY 12/8/83 on a boot DVD I made. It is one of his last performances, I think.
He was so good that night, but only 2 songs. He was supposed to play on 3 but they could not find him. Well, he wasn't getting high somewhere, he didn't do that.I wonder where he was?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the ears don't lie. Ian was the best the Stones ever had.

Mighty stork you are sooooo right.
Only a man comfortable with himself could have made a decision like he did.
Why do you think the rest of the Stones RESPECTED him so much.
And he was good looking, Andrew was right, he just didn't fit in.

Stu is one of those persons who can lift my spirit if needed. Just a spoonful of the song
"Let it bleed" will get one through any struggle in his life, thanks to his piano.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Stu is the piano player on this Ronnie Lane DVD taped for German TV in 1980. Some nice close-ups of him workin' the eighty-eights. I don't think I've ever seen that much of him playing! Pretty reasonably priced on Amazon.

Stu was so much more to the Glimmers .Missed to this day by so many fans and never been replaced as far as his importance to the Stones

In 1983 during the A.R.M.S. tour for Ronnie Lane he did the boggie-woggie piano for some spectacular blues tunes. And Joe Cocker did the vocals.
Was that one of his last tours before leaving us?

Stu is playing on Worried Life Blues. In this video this starts around 8:15.
Chris Stainton is doing other piano duties. Bill's on bass.
O, by the way, Ronnie and Charlie were also present, playing on Seven Days (from the
17:00 mark on).

I love that ARMS show. IN fact I dubbed a CD from it with the Cocker set and a few other songs that I liked. I play it very frequently here.
I love the way Clapton, Ronnie and Bill look at each other when Joe is doing his 'streches'. They had a great time playing with each other that tour.
