Is it me, but I pre-ordered a Georgie Fame box set from Universal Music (Amazon are a waste of space with Amazon Logistics) on 03rd October 2015, and now it's status is sold out, yet I pre-ordered the damn thing ? Why is the purchase of tangible music so difficult ? Or am I just being impatient ?

Did you get a confirmation for ordering it? Then they should give it to you.

Yes, it's even been debited from my bank account on the 03rd October 2015. It was released last Friday, which was 09th October 2015.

I also had terrible problems with ordering Keith's Crosseyed Heart, what with Amazon Logistics failing to deliver. I'm starting to lose faith, and wondering why I still like music if it cannot even be delivered when I pay for it.

9 out of 10 times you will get the album quicker when you purchase it in the store on release day, instead of pre-ordering it..

Unfortunately, HMV stocks the chavvier end of the scale in Reading, i.e. (c)rap, (c)rap, and more (c)rap.

Interesting... I've never had a problem with Amazon or BestBuy.com getting me what I ordered. I think those are the only two online services I've bought from. Even the "re-sellers" through Amazon have never had "real" problems getting me what I ordered... Only a couple "errors" which were fixed VERY quickly.

I've also had great success with BestBuy's "Instore pickup" feature where I order/buy/pay online and then drive buy the store and they've got it waiting for me at the Customer Service desk.

I will agree with DP that the pre-orders are generally slower than buying in person if you opt for "free shipping". That said, when I've paid the upcharge to "have it delivered the day of release" it's always been on time as advertised.

Maybe I should be count myself blessed to have an office within a mile of my city's main post office and to live in a city stationed in the busiest air corridor in the USA.

It's horrendous in Reading: I asked about the Dunedin Consort's new version of the Christmas Oratorio by Bach, and they had no idea.

The thing is surely the ordering department, when they receive a pre-order, should get in touch with the warehouse and say we've got x-amount of pre-orders for a certain item: that item should be dispatched without hesitation, deviation, or reservation. Why they're not in touch is incompetence at its height.

Especially when, in this time and age, communication & verification is, theoretically at least, SO EASY.

Don't know if it would help you or not but I have bought MANY items from a seller called Zoverstocks on the US Amazon site who is located in the UK. On their profile summary page it lists them in Stockport, Cheshire. I have never had any problems with them or their customer service and will buy from them without hesitation in the future.

my experience with amazon is mixed.

never usually have a problem with orders, those they cant deliver means i get my money back quick, never a problem. but almost everything i order arrives and within the time they state.

problem i had with amazon is when they registered me with amazon prime despite me not knowing or asking to be registered, then they took £79 out of my bank without telling me, when i found out it was them , they got hell over the phone, i told them they had stolen from me and my kids and left us short cos that money was needed to feed and heat them and i wouldnt be able to unless they put the money back in now.

i watch amazon with a hawk eye make sure they dont steal from me again, worry is i dont see a phone numebr you can contact them with, in the case that they do take money from my account again.

I like Amazon for convenience and service. They got me the Wino's at Hollywood Palladium even though it took about 6 weeks (I knew it was a little bit hard to find) and Polly Harvey / John Parrish A Woman A Man Walked By took about 6 months (which I had no idea was hard to find) however the download of the latter arrived on my phone moments after purchase ...it's just I like to have the physical item as well

However, am trying not to use them so much as I disapprove of their tax dodging antics

This saga is continuing, and Universal Music Store haven't covered themselves in glory. The status of the box set has now moved from "Out of stock" to "Currently not available". I pre-ordered this, and now this has happened. I have emailed David Joseph the CEO of Universal Music over this, and am now threatening Universal Music with the Small Claims Court if I do not receive a Georgie Fame box by 23rd October 2015.
