I was there. My first Stones concert. J. Geils played before them. 85,500 in attendance. The baseball stadium swayed when they played Brown Sugar.

I was there as well. I remember it being very hot. I thought Kansas was also on the bill but that could have been 1978.Too many joints.

You're right, that was '78 and it was hot. I had a bunch of pictures from Cleveland '75, maybe from Cream or Circus, can't remember too many...well you know.

That is Mick -unless J Geils used a large dude with an afro on the precussion as well.

Don't know about that particular show, but it looks much like my first Stones show '78 in Philly. After the first ecstatic sprint across the empty field, and setting up as close to the stage as possible, this is how we spent the next 10- 12 hours. At first it's all about 'rock'n roll community spirit'; "ah, thanks for the joint, man - here, try a hit of my stuff..", then it turns into "quit standing so close", and "don't breathe my air!"
It was incredible though: everything evaporated the minute the Stones came on; nothing else mattered.

I noticed that too, maybe they got Ollie Brown or Tower of Power for their last songs or something.

I would bet next paycheck that this is Jagger in the photo.
The body language, Ollie Brown, the physique.
Peter Wold might have still had a beard in 75; and he has a hairy chest.
The drums are Charlie's; the way the two cymbals are on his right. It could be Chuch we see back there too.

Ollie Brown could be there as "guest artist" for the occation.
Yes, Peter Wolf had beard and mustache in 1975, but and that's why it looks like a "bigger shadow" around the nose and neck of the "Mick" than it really is.

Jagger didn't wear those pants in Cleveland.

Well of course I know none of us can't be real certain, I'm just saying that I *think* it's Wolf.

I think he wore green pants with red stripes, so that looks much like them. And Charlie wore a white T Shirt with a blue/ red thing over it; or maybe it was all one shirt, but it is very much like the drummer is wearing in the pic.
But more than anything is just - in a lifetime of studying and obsessing over zillions photos of Jagger I am positive that that is him.

There is just something from that 1975 tour that is the lowpoint in the Stones touring for me. I hate Mick's vocals the band for the most part was not clicking the way they had previously. Mick's outfits are ridiculous. I just don't like anything about it.

Cleveland '75 was my first Stones show. I'd just graduated highschool and spent the day there with my first love in life. She snuck most of a twelve pack of Miller Lite in under her shirt which made her look very pregnant. The old guard at the gate wouldn't touch her instead telling us where the medical facilities were located. We spent the day in the sun with that warm beer first enduring Joe Vitale's Mad Men (he was local and "connected," so to speak) and enjoying the brilliant Tower of Power and the ever reliable genius of the J. Geils Band.

Naturally, the Stones took their sweet time coming to the stage but did so, in broad daylight somewhere around six in the evening. The "lotus" stage wasn't used and the band merely sauntered on to the strains of Fanfare for The Common Man, Keith lighting a cigarette as he did so. Though I had several of their albums my girlfriend and I admitted to one another that we weren't "huge fans" as, I suppose, we'd found our own coming-of-age bands and the Stones were over a decade old at that point. Keith began to hammer the HTW riff and suddenly Mick appeared in some garish green pantsuit leaping up and down and running from one side of the stage to the other blowing kisses and bowing grandiously to the throng. It seemed like Keith hit the opening chord to HTW a hundred times and when at last he led the band into the song the feeling was exhilarating. What ensued was a nearly three hour tour de force which included "Luxury" and maybe "Short'n'Curlies" which I later learned were not played often on the tour. Satisfaction and Sympathy were left in the can that day the show ending with JJF and a massive fireworks display.

I became a lifelong Stones fan that day though I can't speak for my date. She moved from Ohio to Chicago the very next day and I only saw her a couple times after. My heart was broken but DAMMIT I'VE HAD THE STONES FOREVER!

I knew John Rockwood who took the large photo above. I think he still lives in Toledo where he plays a vicious blues harp in local bands. He's got a lot of great pics on the net, many for sale in large, hi-res prints.

Nope, that's indeed Mick. TofP and J Geils performed in bright (hot) sunshine. Mick changed clothes several times and at one point had more garish eyemake up. Rockwood's black and white shots from earlier in the concert show it.

Ollie Brown and Billy Preston played with the Stones. Billy Preston sang two songs, One was Nothing From Nothing haven't a clue what the other was.
I have a picture of the topless girl in the B/W photo above but sadly I can't find it. It was from the side and from the stands. We used to take pictures thru binoculars.

The other Billy song was that dance instrumental of his that was so huge at the time. Both were played throughout the tour but in those days there was no internet to spoil the show and that segment came as a wonderful surprise. Especially when Mick and Billy did The Bump.
