I wouldn't get my hopes up. I think Sly is as important a music figure as can be -- in terms of the quality of his output in his prime years (oh too short) but even more so in how he influenced popular music. But what a sad burn out. I won't say don't do drugs, kids, but they can kill your spirit and mind as well as your body....

I'm a big fan of Sly's - to the point where I can find something to recommend about the WB era (the last three albums he made before he went AWOL), BUT this 'comeback' looks dreadful on paper.

Must need money. From the concert reports I've read, he rarely shows up and when he does, doesn't stick around long or do much. Will probaby be the same story on this record. He'll basically be a special guest.

OK, so the footage at the very end isn't lit very well. I hate the fact that they added a "scratched film" filter on it in post-production to make it look even more distressed. That device is such a cliche, and stupid as well, because if it's shot on video (as this looks to be ) there is no actual film that can be scratched.

And the whole thing was waaaaay too long.

Does he appear on it or does he slip out the side door after the first 15 minutes?

Don't be surprised if that is late too.

Yeah,
Sly is one of the saddest chapters in music. He's still alive and kicking, but his soul was robbed by addictions.
This man is a genius.
